OMG our theme is just outta control!! Check out my sister's ideas...
Warning - this is a long one but I can't help it- I'm so excited!!
Wow, I am just blown away by the different ideas she's coming up with. You may or may not know from my posts, but part of our theme is the Yankees. My colors are navy and white. Tables named after players. Placecards will be Yankee tickets, with peanuts and cracker jacks attached to them.
I told my sister how we can't throw anything outside the church or even bubbles, that we would have to go with ribbon wands. Well she had an idea that she kept from me for a while, cuz she wasn't sure if I thought it was too much. She finally fessed up today. She thought instead of ribbon wands, how about PENNANTS?! Is this NUTS or what? I'm so excited, I can hardly stand it.
So they'll wave navy and white pennants instead of ribbon wands. They'll be pretty small- not the typical pennants you see baseball fans hang in their rooms and whatnot. Some pennants will be all navy, some all white, and with probably a little bell at the top!! I'm so excited!!
Be honest- do you think it's too much? I think since they're small enough, it should be fine- and it should look great in pics!!! We're just gonna take felt, cut it to the shape of the penant, glue it around the same thing you use for ribbon wands!
And...we started work on the Save the Date. Again, how does she think of all these things? It's a collage of pics, but with a very subtle baseball reference. The middle pic is the shape of a baseball diamond!! Soooo cool! Here's a pic of first draft (we're probably gonna have four pics around the diamond).
ETA: Seriously ladies, if you need ANY design help, FM me and I'll put you in touch with my sister!

Are you kidding? I don't think that's too much at all!! It's so unique and it's so cute! I mean granted I'm a Mets fan myself so I'm not too particular about the colors but, you know....  Just kidding! I think you should definitely go for it. Your STD's are also fabulous!! Good job with you and your sister being so creative!!

Glinda, you are right! It's all about making it your own. And even my sister said it, all of these little touches sets the tone as to what kind of party it will be. And we're a fun loving couple, so we're obviously setting quite a silly tone! 
ETA: forgot the other idea my sis came up with!! Our monogram will have the baseball diamond in the background as well! She already started designing it, I don't have a pic of it yet. Basically that monogram will be screenprinted on the huge beer mugs we got for favors.
I never thought my wedding would be full of little details, but it's so easy to do when you have a theme and a very crazy creative sister/MOH!!!

Thanks Kristy!!! I can't wait to see her other layouts- that's only the first draft!
Now I can't decide what to print them on...I don't know if I want that big of a magnet now....ugggh decisions, decisions! What other types of things do people print STDs on? How do postcards look? Photocards? Not sure what to do....

Hmmmmmm, not too sure what the post cards look like but the photocards are really nice!!! There are a few girls on here that have done the postcards though! Maybe do a post and see if they can show you theirs and let you know what they thought of the outcome........
If you aren't too sure about the sizes that you want, just play around with cardstock or regular paper and see that way. Just remember, to save money, you don't have to cover the entire back with the magnet........you can put it on the sides or on the top and bottom.....something like that
Can't wait to see the other ideas your creative sister (that I may have to adopt!!) is going to do!

That sounds so awesome and maybe if you wanted to dress them up a tiny bit you could still add a strand of blue and white ribbon on the ends. Sound like its going to be such a fun wedding!!

the funny thing is... as i was reading about the ribbon wand... i thought the same thing about the pennants. 
I WOULD ONLY SUGGEST ONE THING.....
make a sample on or two... you might find that felt is too thick... you want them to "wave" in the air. i would suggest something a little "thinner"

Thank you so much! I'm so excited about it!
I thought the same thing- and then my sis took out some felt and cut it and it actually works!!! Seemed to wave just fine! But we'll definitely do a test run. Is there another fabric you could suggest? We need it to be stiff enough to keep that pennant shape, but loose enough to wave around.

BWA HA HA FH cracks me up!
Earlier today he said instead of throwing the usual stuff when we come out of the church, why don't they just throw panties at us? His ode to Elvis. heehee!!
Then just now, he suggested our pennants be black and gold - he's a Steelers fan too. I said, well why don't we just have them wave terrible towels then? HA HA!(Just a quick explanation for those not sure - Steelers fans wave these gold towels around to rally up the team.) I can almost guarantee you, someone had that going on at their wedding somewhere in Pittsburgh with all the crazy Steelers fans out there!

considering I work for MLB (maybe I'm biased!!)......I don't think it's too much....I think its really unique, and since you & FH love the Yankees so much than it makes your wedding really personalized and different. Sounds like a lot of fun!
