Upper Arm woes
Hi Everybody!!
I am really self conscious about my upper arms. No matter what I do, they are just bigger than I would like, even when I am at my "ideal" weight. When I look through bridal magazines, it seems that almost all the gowns are sleeveless or strapless. Does anyone know if it is possible to have sleeves added on? There are so many styles I like except that they don't have sleeves, and I'm not into wearing a shawl. Thank you!

Re: Upper Arm woes
Have you started looking at dresses yet? There are a good amout out there with short sleeves, not as many with long sleeves. Also depending on the shop, you can probably have sleeves added on, I've had different sales people tell me different things. I'm having straps put on my dress because its strapless and I don't feel comfortable in a strapless dress. Try on lots of different dresses, you will surprise yourself, I swore I would not try on any strapless dresses and one sales women convinced me to and I fell in love with the dress, so you never know! Good luck and have fun dress hunting!

Here is the great truth in all things wedding: If you can pay for it, you can have it. There is nothing that can't be done.

Thank you
Thanks you guys, I think I'll try on some sleeveless styles and maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised. If not, I'll ask for sleeves and get out the checkbook
Thanks again!

Re: Thank you
I have big arms also and didn't think I wanted a strapless dress, well tried one on and loved it! I thought by arms still looked big, but the assistant helping me and my MOH both said with a tan they won't look bad. So if your wedding is in the summer...maybe a tan will help.

Try on lots of gowns before deciding...
Sometimes a gown with sleeves (long or short) will make your arms look even bigger!
Try on lots of different gowns before ruling anything out!
Sooo many girls say they want something like x and end up with something like y.

Re: Upper Arm woes
I have the same problem. I hate my upper arms sooo much! The dress I have ordered is a tank stylev-neck but I am having shear organza sleeves added to it. I think they are charging me $75 a sleeve, which is a good price. Make sure you to ask if you can ad a sleeve. Some dresses you can add them and some can't have them added. The seamstress at the dress store made a "Sleeve" for me for the day and we would pin it on to each dress to make sure it looked good. Good Luck!

Re: Upper Arm woes
If you are set on having a sleeveless gown, I suggest doing push ups. You don't need to do the military ones with your legs straight, you can do the ones with your knees bent and it does work! My back is tighter and my arms and shoulders are too. You just have to keep it up-I slacked a bit. I also recommend doing them the day of the wedding because muscles tend to stay tight for a few hours after you have done weight lifting. Yes I am a nut to even think of working out the day of the wedding. For me it is a stress reliever and boy I can see myself going mad that day!
As for the actual sleeves, I have seen pictures of women with strapless gowns with sort of a bollero on that is very sheer. I thought of wearing this during the ceremony if my priest was against showing skin. This may help.
