Definitely no Macarena... We're doing the Electric Slide, and my FI wants the chicken dance (who knows!)... no boy bands or Britney Spears... no YMCA... and also no country music or rap.

yabbobay...Thank you! That was a great list, I am going to print it and save it because I agree with you totally and could never have thought of all those.
I am also telling my DJ "no requests" except for ones from my FH and myself. I have been at weddings where people have requested the theme song from Friends...no way at my wedding.

yabbobay, you make me laugh! I too printed the list out and thank God my fi and I agree on what should and shoudln't be played, pretty much what's on your list (except for Elton John) will be on ours.
What do you do when someone requests something that you don't want???

I knew there would be some people who would flame me!!! Please remember, we all have different tastes and styles.
I compiled this list from 2 sites do not play lists...some people included Barry Manilow and ABBA...who I happen to love and want played at my wedding...
Also remember I am 28 and most of our friends are over 25 and 30. I also want my 75 year old aunt to dance.
This is my wedding and I don't want to hear songs I don't like...I also don't think that the few songs (and there are NOT a lot on that list) fit MY image of MY wedding...
You only have 80 songs about for your wedding...that includes first songs, cake cutting, dinner, etc.. I think they can get around playing those songs...
NIna - there will be NO EXCEPTIONS to this rule...my dj is good to, he said I don't have to pay him if he plays any of them (although I would have already paid him )
I'm glad some of you think it as useful...here is what I have so far for my play list...
