The best candy apples in the world are sold at Lemon Ice King of Corona. They are less than 2.00 I'm sure and they are delicious.
If you're ever in Queens I recommend them.

out east sells them but i think they are like 3$ each...i know the Chocolate duck in Farmingdale makes them

Right now Walbaums is selling them in packs of 3 - 2 for $5, so that's less than a dollar each. I'm probably using them for placecards more than favors, so I don't need anything to fancy.
You can also order them from daffyapple or daffyapples.com. If you want a fancier apple as a favor, maybe dipped in caramel AND chocolate, go to the Chocolate Duck in Farmingdale. They make crazy ones with candy crunch, marshmellows, whatever you want. HTH!
