Need Advice - what would you do?

I have been working at the same company for over 7 years. I am a specialist in the Human Resource department which requires me to interface with many different employees at all levels at the company.

Since I have been here so long, I have become aquainted with many of the women in various departments and many of which know that I am getting married, many of which want to come to the 'church' part of my wedding and for me to let them know when it is. This would be all fine and dandy if we were getting married at a church, but we are not. We are getting married on-site in the (very private) gardens of Majestic Gardens.

Since the setting is so intimate, and the plan is for everyone to move into Cocktail Hour immediately after the cermony, I am concerned that those whom I didn't invite but want to come to the ceremony may feel 'put out' or even worse mosey on into the reception assuming they are invited because they went to the ceremony.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy chit chatting at work with these women, and enjoy their company, but can only afford to invite my department to my small, but expensive 100 person wedding.

How would you handle these requests? I have told many of them that I am not getting married in a church, indicating that we are getting married on-site, but I am not sure what is the appropriate way to handle this is...

I would do the "Awe I wish you could be there but.." then tell them it will be videotapped and they could borrow it as soon as it comes in

Just tell them that you are not getting married at a church and only having a short ceremony before the cocktail hour. Most people will know that they can't go and just tell them that you will bring all the pictures in so that they can see.

I would tell them that you are getting married right before your CH at the place, but you'll bring pics in to share as soon as you get back from your honeymoon. I am sure most women would understand.

I totally agree with Jenn, but sometimes these women are nuts and do not realize what you're actually trying to say. Just be short, sweet and to the point and I hope they get it!

Re: Need Advice - what would you do?

just tell them you appreciate their asking (it really is sweet that they want to be there for you and didn't ask/assume they were invited to the rh) but you're having a very private, small wedding. they should get the hint. if not, explain that it will be only family for personal reasons and leave it at that.

That is perfect...most people understand that it is impossible and very BAD etiquite to go a ceremony that is at the site.
