brides chat
Even though I am going to be married for almost 2 years I still check out what people are saying on the brides board. Does it seem to anyone else that these brides are very suspicious of who is posting messages? I can still remember not that long ago there were so many arguements and brides writing nasty things to each other because they thought the people posting were vendors. I don''t remember it being that way 3 years ago when I planned my wedding (I was a regular then) but then again it was 3 years ago and I am now 7 months pregnant so I tend to be forgetful! Does anyone else feel like this or am I too trusting (a problem I seem to have)?

brides chat
I've been on the board since Jan 2000. I still check, mostly out of curiosity and slow summer work days...
They may be more suspicious although a lot less argumentative than a year ago, it got pretty sad sometimes.
I never got into the "your're not a bride" thing, but the last one, happybride, is totally bogus, never posted until this week, the vendor calls the bride after reading the post, and the profile has a wednesday date (I only know cause my wedding was that sunday the 17th...)
When I was on the board, it never occured to me that people would do that. But unfortunately, I think they do.
One important question: is there a chat site for pregnant women?

brides chat
It seems to go in cycles - quiet for awhile then it erupts again. I'd guess that in the beginning the vendors didn't find out about the board right away so they were not around to post.

brides chat - long
I totally agree. I think that these boards are argumentative at times, especially when the vendors get involved. But I think it's also a great resource for people to share info and recommendations. I believe that LI weddings have gotten so out of hand, and vendors resort to really slimy tactics to get new customers b/c it's so competitive.
My husband and I were talking about the board last night b/c our limo company rep posted a message, calling me rude & obnoxious b/c I wrote a post on bride's chat saying mistakes were made at our wedding. The sad part is, the vendor didn't care to return my call and personally apologize or offer an explaination. They chose to post a message blaming us for their mistake. All vendors care about is getting our money, and once your wedding is done, they move right along to the next bride. There's no such thing as making you happy so that you're a return customer. Why would they wait 8 weeks to respond when they want to appear as an upstanding vendor? It's sad that they waited until I said I wouldn't recommend their service on the chat board.
But, the way I see it, some brides out there will have learned a lesson from my experience.
BTW - there's a pregnancy site: www.themomsconnection.com AND theparentsplace.com AND thebabycorner.com. Congrats and best wishes for a healthy pregnancy and baby!
When are you due?

brides chat - & Beck congrats.. :-)
I think as the popularity of the board has expanded and perhaps brides mentioning that they found their vendors on LI Weddings has prompted some unscrupulous vendors to post as brides for self promotion. As someone has mentioned word of mouth IS a powerful thing and CAN lead to the vendors demise..just my 2 cents

I just wanted to say congrats to you and your husband!!
I hope you continue to share with us - I have just recently gotten married. It shows me how addictive this site really is (three years later) that is going to be me... I truly enjoy reading what everyone has to say - I never thought I'd still be on this board after the wedding (I don't tell my friends b/c they would think I am nuts. (see if you've never experienced it you just don't understand) Happy to hear the GOOD NEWS!! Keep us posted!!

I'm sure there are some unscrupulous vendors posing and posting as brides. After all, it's $900 to become a listed vendor here! (I'm friends with one of the vendors - she told me.) Just goes to show how competitive it is out there.

Thanks everyone for your good thoughts about the baby. We are pretty excited...only about 6 weeks away now (I think. I am due October 20th. It seemed like just yesterday we were walking down the aisle and now we are making a nursery. A little scary. I don''t feel like I am ready for this sometimes but the baby is coming no matter if I am ready or not!
Also thanks for validating my feelings about the brides board. I feel like I am being too sensitive lately when something like that starts to make me upset. I guess its just hormones!
Thanks again and I''ll keep you posted on our new bundle of joy!
