Went to a wedding in Northern NJ.. florentine gardens (pics)
Ok ladies this is just observations.. none of the vendors were LIW.. but i figured id provide a few pics My problems were general that I will prolly make sure my hall doesnt do, or my dj doesnt do...
my only real complaints are that the CH food was sparse and a little overcooked... (ive been to a wedding there before (last year) and it was plentiful and wonderful...diff pkg? diff owners? i dont konw... the meal was delicous (and the waiters came aroudn and offered seconds!) got the chaeatu briand.. yummy!
the biggest complaint was how long it took things to get started at the receptoin point.. seemed like an hour (and when i checked my watch it was indeed an hour before introductions, dances, speeches , etc were all done... really made me rethink the structuring of ours b/c it was really aggrevating for alot of guests you saw them all get antsy...
and the band was a little eh... it was a nj band,.. and i think friends of the family from HS... so i won't name them , but they weren't good... it was all oldies (more then half the reception was under 35) alot of oldies are ok but mix it up a little bit!!! and there was alot of silence between songs... nothing like other bands ive heard who do really great transitions.. they also talked alot .. which was odd.. really broke the flow of the reception up...
but i have to say the BM dresses were super pretty ,the bride looked great, the flowers were amazing...
so far heres' centerpiece, cocktail hour flowers, me and FH

Yeah ... last time i went there they were amazing.. food, service etc.... its a gorgeous place too...this time it was more CH food being not so great, not reception food ...the service was excellent this time around too (cept we had a 'newer' waiter it seemed... but they were very attentive...

I'm surprised to hear the cocktail hour food was sparse, they are known for their big cocktail hours.
I looked at venues in that area since we live really close and their basic packages are a lot smaller than the ones that were offered to me on Long Island so maybe they didn't add any upgrades.
My dental hygenist is getting married there in Feb 08 and she was telling me all about their CH and how huge it was going to be but, they got all of the upgrades (they threw a lot in since it was a Feb wedding).

Yah the last wedding CH i attended there was HUGE.... I really think they got the basic CH pkg.. last time i went they had two of every station and the place was packed no more the na few inches between stations... .. this time not one duplicate... and there was lots of space between stations...
Edited to add a few more pics
the card box, the chadalier (soo many in this place the pic does no justice.. very pretty), the food and the dessert tray (no VH hour, in lieu a plate of desserts at each table.. very yummy!)
