How far in advance should you have e-pics/e-party?

I'm trying to figure out when we should formally announce our engagement. Thoughts?

A year before? And then have the e-party shortly after?

We had our e-party two months after we were engaged. I don't think there's aspecific timeline ...but it should be fairly new
What I heard of a lot of people doing is handing out the STD's at the e-party

Wow! I don't know why I thought that you were "supposed" (and of course "supposed" is a relative term to me...) to have it about 1 year before your wedding....

Yikes! Maybe me and the FH should have one soon, then!

i announced our engagement right away... but decided not to have an engagement party our friends took us out and so did our families, but i wanted to have a bridal shower, and i thought it was a lot to ask of people to do an e party and the shower jmo

i got engaged december 2005 and had an engagement dinner in February!

I got engage in April and I plan to have my engagement party in February.

i got engaged in april had my e party in june-i announced it to everone after i got engaged so they were all waiting for the party

As far as I understand it, most people tend to do a year before (i dont know if its an ettiquite thing or not). However, I think whenever you want. Had I gotten engaged earlier in the summer I would have had mine already, but being that I want to do an outdoor luau backyard type of thing, I'm going to do mine in the late spring/early summer of next year. It's your wedding, your engagement, your party. Tell everyone when you want and celebrate when you want!!!!
