Vent: Are Brides Supposed To Wear Jewelry On Wedding Day?
I got myself a necklace and asked FH to pay for it 'cus he didn't have a clue what to get me for my wedding gift. Then I mentioned to him that brides are supposed to wear jewelry (ring, bracelet, earrings and necklace) on their special day to complement their dress.
Now he's questioning why brides need to wear jewelry?
Am I missing something here? Is anyone NOT wearing bridal jewelry or jewelry of some kind for their special day?

i guess i never really thought that i HAD to wear jewelry. i'm just wearing it b/c i usually wear jewelry when i get dressed up.

I may not be wearing any.....don't want to take away from my dress!
If anything I'm hoping my sister will give me her 13 carat tennis bracelet as my something borrowed. If she does that will be the only thing I wear.
You definitely don't have to wear jewelry the day of...it's just a personal preference.

I think you need a little jewlry...you don't want to walk out have the first thing people see be your jewlry but I think a nice simple necklace to compliment your dress, a pair of simple earings, is a nice touch. Whatever makes you feel like a princess on your day

well, i think it depends on the dress sometimes. my dress is pretty "done up" and whatnot so i'm not gonna go crazy with the jewelry. i think i'm going to have a simple "wreath" type necklace that looks kinda antique with little drop antique earrings and that's it, no bracelet. i was going to wear just a simple cross necklace but i don't know-- i might have it put in my bo-k instead. but i'm going pretty simple with it but i'm still wearing jewelry. i think it's pretty common to wear jewelry. the one thing i want to make sure i have on (even if it is not on my finger b/c of my wedding band) is my claddagh ring-- i need to have it on me, it's VERY meaningful and special to me.

My dress wasn't very busy so I wore jewelry, which DH bought me. A matching earring and necklace set from Things Remembered - it wasn't even that expensive. And my sister gave me her bracelet as my something borrowed. And of course, my e-ring and later my wedding band. 
But if my dress had been very showy, or my hairstyle been down, I wouldn't have worn much jewelry.

My dress is pretty ornate, so I might so something simple like pearls, or not even wear a necklace. My friend wore this really elegant crystal necklast that was like 3 layers, and it looked beautiful. It depends on your tastes ... and what looks best with the dress.
