Need suggestions for reception hall search

Okay I've started the reception hall search and it looks like there's no end in sight. I have a list that's longer than Santa's and was hoping for suggestions to help prioritize the hall search. I want to get married in 2008. We haven't set the date yet because we have a limited budget and are trying to price shop. I'd prefer Saturday night (wouldn't we all) but am not opposed to a sunday or saturday afternoon. I plan to have my ceremony held at the reception site and to take my pictures as well. I am kinda set on the idea of an outdoor ceremony and possibly an outdoor cocktail hour. I would also like the option of nice indoors facilities as well in case the weather is bad. I'm only having about 50-60 guests. I'm leaning toward Nassau county because most of our guests will be coming from the Bronx, Manhattan and Queens. I'm not sure if Suffolk county would be too far of a drive for most people. I've already looked at Westbury Manor, The Swan Club, Leonard's of Great Neck and Verdi's of Westbury. I don't want to spend more than $85 per person, preferably less. If anyone could suggest someplace amazing that suits my criteria I would greatly appreciate it.

Re: Need suggestions for reception hall search

i second the woodbury country club! on a sunday night in aug 07 we only paid $75/p.p. plus tax and gratuity. They have an outside ceremony and cocktail hour. I know their mim is 100, but maybe if u do it in april before peak season starts they can give u a better price.

Re: Need suggestions for reception hall search

Try the Riviera in Massapequa or the Milleridge Cottage

YOU guys have to narrow down your list by setting priorities

Do you want to be the only bride there that day (or does that not matter to you)

Do you want to be on the water

Do you want high ceilings

Do you want a place in a relaxed setting or does it matter to you if its on a busy road (Jericho Turnpike, etc.)

Set your priorities or after a while you'll start going crazy visiting all these halls

Also use THE BRIDES REVIEW board for pics of these halls you are interested in and for comments on the halls

Good luck

Re: Need suggestions for reception hall search

Try Chateau La Mer.... They are relatively cheap compared to other places. They also have an outdoor area for the ceremony and you can have the CH outdoors depending on weather.. PLUS you arrive on a boat!!!

Try the George Washington Manor. They have their own chapel for indoor ceremony, gardens for outdoor ceremony, and rooms to accomodate smaller weddings. Their pricing is also in your budget.

I checked out the Sans Souci and FH thought it was too small....but I LOVED it!!! We're probably having around 150, so it might have been tight for that...they gave us a price of $80pp including your centerpieces, for a Saturday night in peak season....the place is absolutely gorgeous (right on the water).....you should really check them out!

If you do go, check out Swan Club at the same time- they're very close to each other.

Re: Need suggestions for reception hall search

One of my very good friends had her wedding at Bridgeview YC last year and it was AMAZING! I've been to MANY weddings and none compared to this one. The food and service were A+
She had it on a Sunday Eve and said the price was right.

Re: Need suggestions for reception hall search

Well I am biased, but check out Westbury Manor. We had our ceremony there as well. The ceremony and the cocktail hour were both outside and were beautiful. We also took all our pics there, so it was great not having to go to a million places to do everything.
They have a smaller room where you could have a party for 50-60 people, and their rates are not crazy high, especially if you do an afternoon.

Re: Need suggestions for reception hall search

I had no luck with Sans Souci, Riviera, Jericho Terrace, Crest Hollow, Woodbury, or the Crescent Beach Club. I couldn't meet the minimums ( min 100). Any other ideas?
