I haven't posted much and have mostly been a lurker for about a year, but I got a lot of great tips that I made use of and now that my wedding is over, I wanted to share some reviews for future brides looking for information... I have many pics, but I need to learn how to scan them in...
Bridgeview Yacht Club: BEYOND PHENOMENAL
They treated my DH and I like royalty. Every detail was perfect and beautiful. Absolutely nothing went wrong. Karen was the greatest Bridal Attendant ever. Kathy and Eric were the Maitre'ds/Banquet Managers and were unbelievable. We had the entire venue to ourselves on Sunday. People could stay indoors in the AC or go outside and be on the water. There were so many gorgeous places to take photos. The cocktail hour was amazing. We added lamb chops and a caviar station and there was a ton of fantastic food. (They also ship all the leftovers to a local foodbank which makes it even better to know there is no waste!). The reception courses were delicious. Our wedding cake was perfect and the viennese table was more sugar in one place than I could have ever imagined. Bridgeview Yacht Club is spectacular. They really know what they're doing. They give you tons of attention and it's a one wedding at a time place on the water in Nassau County. It's even 2 blocks away from the Island Park LIRR station so my guest from NYC could come to the wedding even though they do not have cars.
Silverfox Photgraphy:EXCELLENT! We had Mike shoot our wedding. He was easy to work with and got us through all the compulsory pics before the ceremony so we wouldn't have to miss our cocktail hour. He got an excellent mix of pics with different backgrounds around Bridgeview. DH and I cannot wait to see our proofs!
EJ the DJ: Phenomenal! EJ is the house DJ for the Bridgeview Yacht Club. They know the venue well. They listened to our must-plays and do not plays explicitly. They keep the run dancing and having fun. Our emcee was CL ("Crazy Legs") and he had the greatest personality. He really cared about us being happy with his service and we were completely. CL even got my mom up and dancing for the first time in years!
EJ the DJ also shot our wedding video. Andrew was our videographer and he was funny and experienced. We cannot wait to see our video!
Dalsimer Florist: THE MOST BEAUTIFUL FLOWERS EVER!!! This is one of Bridgeview's house florists. They were a bit on the expensive side, but worth EVERY cent. Our main flowers were calla lilies and acapulco lillies. They made the most freshest and beautiful centerpieces ever. My bouquet matched my dress beautifully. I am still stunned as to how fantastic the quality of the flowers were. They also decorated my bridal suite, the staircase up to the suite, our cake (which was included with the hall) and our chuppah.
David's Bridal: NO PROBLEMS HERE! I bought my dress in February of 2005 for a July 2006 wedding. I purchased an ivory and champagne colored Oleg Cassini gown, the matching veil and a slip. Everything arrived within 3 months in brand new, perfect condition. I love my dress and am so glad I bought it at David's. I had good service there too by the way (with Joanne).
I did NOT alter my dress at David's. I altered it at Monica's in Brooklyn. They have great prices and have altered dresses for me before with no problem.
Afterhours Tuxedos (Source Mall): NO PROBLEMS!
We had to get a total of 6 tuxes. One had to have info faxed from a groom's man in Las Vegas. They had everything ready the Thursday before. Everything fit well and was exactly what we ordered. My DH even got his tux free (except for a few small fees) because we had 4 or more groom's men.
Maid to Order Bride's Maid Shop: We got the girl's dresses here. The store in on 86th Street in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn. It caters exclusively to bride's maids which is good because it can be about the girls there and not about the bride which works to maintain sanity. They got the dresses on time. They were perfect. They alterations were a flat fee of $40 each and they did a great job on them.
Party City: We ordered our invited here and got 30% off. They were exactly what we wanted and arrived very quickly with no mistakes. Using Party City is a good way to save some money on wedding costs.
