Re: Portugal or Spain

I went to Portugal a couple of years ago with my FI and his family (they're from there). I loved it so much. The south is so beautiful with the beaches and everything. It was great!!

Re: Portugal or Spain

I've been to both and they are both every beautiful.
I personally liked Portugal better I thought the beaches were much nicer, the food is fabulous. Were you thinking north or south? I can give you more details if you let me know which parts you were interested in seeing.

Re: Portugal or Spain

The food was great, but the eggs on the steak threw me a bit. I passed on that, but the steak itself was delish. I had the best steak of my life while on vaca in Portugal. I can't wait to have it again whenever I get to go back.

Re: Portugal or Spain

DH & I went to Portugal in May. We had an AMAZING time at this resort:

FM me if you have any questions.Algarve Resort

I have also been to Spain a couple of times - Madrid, Sevilla, Barcelona, Gijon, Santiago de Compostela. While I enjoyed all those cities, I personally would not have enjoyed them for a honeymoon. Obviously it depends on what you are looking for, and I'm sure there are some amazing resorts in the south of Spain, which I didn't spend much time in.

Re: Portugal or Spain

I haven't been to Portugal, but I can tell you that Spain is BEAUATIFUL! I spent two weeks there in Madrid and Barcelona, with short trips to Toldeo and Segovia, and it was amazing! There's a TON of things to do (museums, shopping, beaches, soccer stadiums, parks, zoos, anything!) and there so many great places to eat, and lots of fun places to see!

A little taste....

it looks fake!

for the futbol fans...

so cute and great food here....

not the Arc de Triomphe, but still beautiful!

Sagrada Familia... (barcelona)

Hope this helps!

Re: Portugal or Spain

I've been to Spain 3 times (once for pleasure twice for work). It's nice but I LOVE PORTUGAL!!! Spain has some great sites like the Prado museum in Madrid and the Alhambra Palace. Malaga has some really nice beaches. I've been to Portugal once and just loved it. I vowed I would go back. The beaches on the coast are great. Lisbon is really interesting and the town in Sintra is the most charming city I have ever been to.

Re: Portugal or Spain

I have been to both and I would say portugal. They are both beautiful, but they also both have their downside. Over all portugal was a bit more friendly and the nightlife was great.

Re: Portugal or Spain

just came back from both. portugal is really nice, the people are the friendliest i've ever met. lisbon is interesting, but not for more than 2 days or so. sintra is gorgeous, very hilly. the beaches in caiscais and the algarve are absolutely beautiful, but the water is FREEZING!!! the food is delicious, and wine is really yummy and dirt cheap.

spain has more to do. less people know english though, so know a few spanish terms. barcelona is gorgeous, as is seville. the small white hill towns are amazing, incredibly unique. arcos is well worth a day stop, stay at la casa grande, it was amazing (http://www.lacasagrande.net/

the beaches in spain have much warmer water. i personally preferred tarifa and the costa de la luz.
tarifa was amazing, we went dolphin watching in the strait of gibralter. it was an eco tour so you can see the dolphins and whales in their natural habitat, undisturbed.

malaga iis dirty and polluted, as is marbella. Nerja was a really nice stop over, warm beach and yummy seafood.
