For those of you who changed your name on your passport...
Approximately how long did it take to receive your new passport?
TIA

took about 5 weeks for me. But you can have it rushed for extra $$ and it will take 2 weeks

Thanks. I don't need it until October, but I managed to work myself about it anyway. LOL

I was wondering the same thing...I need mine the last week of Sept and have managed to put it off. Thanks for posting, good to know they can get back to me fast (if I don't put it off anymore!)

Where do you go to get your passport changed? I am not planning on going anywhere any time soon. But I was just wondering for future references. Just in case I go somewhere. You never know, but I doubt it.

Do you have to send in a copy of your marriage license? YOu have to get one from the town right? do they then send it back?

Re: For those of you who changed your name on your passport...
It took me about 4-5 months, but I think my case was extreme. It may have taken even longer, but I told them I would be travelling a month earlier than I was, and I finally received it.
Initially, I was given the wrong form to fill out. So a month after that, I received a cryptic letter which didn't explain what was wrong with my application. After numerous phone calls, I found the correct form and sent that back with all the correct information. Then they lost my old passport and application (it was never really lost, but after many phone calls again, I found someone had entered the wrong birthdate on my computer file). Then, it was delayed again.
I don't think this happens often, but it didn't give me much faith in the State Dept. It was the most difficult piece of ID to change by far, in my experience.
