My BIG FAT 6-4-06 Greek Wedding!!! Russo’s on the Bay, Something in Blue, Wild Rose, BridalGal, Matt Yeandle and more…. (with PROOFS!!!)
Our wedding day was everything I had imagined it would be…I had the time of my life, I danced all night, we were surrounded by our family and friends, and couldn’t have cared less about insignificant mishaps. We both thoroughly enjoyed it.
Church: Saint Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church A+
Flushing, NY
St. Nick’s is one of my favorite churches. Father Taso performed the ceremony. He spoke in Greek and English. As far as restrictions they always suggest bridesmaids and brides shoulders are covered for the ceremony but they didn’t give us a problem. There was also no restriction on what we could throw.

We booked with Kelly who is absolutely the sweetest person. She really knew her stuff and totally made you feel like she was 100% on top of things. Shortly after we booked she was promoted (deservedly so) and we were switched to Ann as our BM. We dealt with Ann while finalizing our menu. (Russo’s gives everyone a beautiful wooden chest filled with goodies then.) It was a nice treat! She was really great to deal with and had a lot of suggestions.
On the day of, our maitre'd was Tracey. She was phenomenal. I highly suggest requesting her… anytime I needed her she was right there and on top of things. She made sure we relaxed and got a chance to eat. Tracey is a complete doll!! The food and décor was top notch. I got so many compliments throughout the night and till this day about Russo’s…especially their food and service. A couple people told me they got drunk because every time they got up their drink was refilled and they had no idea how many drinks they had by the end of the night. One guest told me she wasn’t sure which entrée to choose and her server brought her both. A lot of people were surprised by the entrance through the floor…I’m glad we decided to do it! Our cake was gorgeous and was delicious!!! I see DH and I having many more events at Russo’s!!! A+ all the way!!

Jack and Margaret are absolutely amazing!!! We met with so many photogs and were so relieved and happy when we found and booked SIB. On the day of they were amazingly sweet and calming. They kept us and the BP laughing. They were never in our way…our bridal party called them our secret service agents. Our proofs blew us away!!! There were over 1400 of them…each one more beautiful than the next. They really captured our day. Words truly cannot express what we feel about SIB so hopefully you can see it through some of our proofs. (I still have to convert some pics to JPEG…so maybe a few more to come soon.) This was another easy choice for us. We’ve known DJ Savva and Olympia personally for many years. Olympia has an amazing voice; people were dancing all night long. Young and old… everyone was on their feet. They played the perfect combo of Greek and English songs. I had the time of my life and am so happy that I thoroughly enjoyed it and danced my a ss off!

I have to say I had nothing but the best experience finding my dress here. This was the first dress I tried on and kept comparing others to it. That's when I knew it was "the one". When I ordered they told me my dress would be in sometime in March. Mid-March I called for a more precise date but they said they wouldn’t know until it came in and they’d call me. Not good for the control freak in me. The first week of April I went in to find out what was going on and my dress had just arrived!! It was beautiful and the neckline looked awesome! (I had it modified to less of a sweetheart). My seamstress was Svetlana. My fittings went great. Initially, I thought they weren't altering the dress enough but I guess I was just losing weight. By my final fitting everything was perfect! Day of my bustle fell because everyone kept stepping on it but nothing a safety pin didn’t fix.

I was looking for a really simple one-tier plain-edge fingertip veil. I ordered one from Barron’s for $35, about a quarter to half the price I had seen them everywhere else for. It was ready in a week and exactly what I wanted. Cheap and efficient…can’t beat that with a wooden stick.

I had my eye on these shoes for a while but they were discontinued. I spoke with a Vera Wang rep who told me Model Bride had the last pair left in my size. They were comfortable up till the last half hour where I changed into slippers Russo’s gave us.

Dress by Impression bridal. I had always loved this dress and was so happy the girls loved it too and looked amazing in it. Picking a place to order from was a matter of finding a great price and a reputable company. RK Bridal fit the bill. They even beat an advertised price from another website by 5%...we practically got the dresses for a steal, which makes for happy BMs. The dresses were supposed to come in April 14th and they were at my house April 3rd!! They were perfect! Alterations were done by my mom...she’s the best! The girls look phenomenal!

I was shopping here around Easter time and found the cutest dress for $30 it was a no-brainer considering even the cheaper FG dresses can run around $100. Keep your eyes open around Easter time. Century 21 even had some US Angels dresses for $50 that bridal sites were selling for $120!

Lilly is awesome! She really listens to what you like and gives you advice. She is extremely capable of many different looks and doesn’t really have one way of doing makeup on everyone. The day of Lilly arrived super early and was a doll. She is incredibly sweet. She even added eyelashes as a gift to me…which I couldn’t feel at all. My makeup looked awesome and I even had a couple bride-to-be guests ask me for her info. I loved her!!!!

Matt is so unbelievably talented. He is an absolute riot to be around. Trial is at his home in Forest Hills and he travels to you the day-of. He arrived on time and was great from start to finish. My hair looked beautiful and lasted all night considering it was half up and loosely curled, I was sweating and dancing all night. He was terrific and I’m so glad I used him!!!

My poor mom had the hardest time finding a dress since she’s so petite and looked lost in traditional MOB gowns. After countless hours searching from NYC to L.I. she found something at Lord and Taylor by Adriana Papelle. She looked beautiful and really felt comfortable. While shopping we found our day-of jewelry too.

I wanted a band similar to my e-ring and Mr. Rizos was able to custom make one that matched perfectly. George ordered a beautiful two-tone band. We both love our bands!

We dealt with Cari. She was on the ball from start to finish and made the whole process exciting…considering this was something I was dreading. They gave me the best price on the pocketfolds with thermography. We had our proofs within 4 business days. Printing took a little longer…we got them about a week late. I partly blame myself for this because I shouldn’t have procrastinated ordering them.
We purchased the ATG gun from them too and assembled the invites ourselves. It was fun and a lot easier than I expected. I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for pocketfolds the price couldn’t be beat for everything included and communication was really good. I received so many compliments on them I’m glad we decided to go this route.

I cannot recommend them enough!!! They really saved our a sses. We were reaaallly late in getting finding our favors and we lucked out by finding GiftFavors. We ordered Lenox Butterfly Meadow Spoon rests from them. Since we didn’t have much time and needed to get them wrapped ASAP, they transported them from their warehouse and let us pick them up from their store in Jersey. Extremely easy to deal with and communication was excellent. I’d definitely order through them again.
Favor Wrapping, Matches: Portara, Bayside C

We were late ordering matches so we placed the order from them. They ordered them directly from Carlson Craft. When we went to go pick them up 2 days before the wedding along with our favors the matches weren’t there and the favors weren’t ready.
We had to call Russo’s and change our drop-off time, go back to Portara the next morning to pick them up….not what I needed the day before the wedding. There were plenty of other things I could have been doing. I wouldn’t use them again.

Bill really saved us. We let him know we were running late with the invites and he told us we could drop them off and they would be ready in 2 days. He was awesome! He matched our invite font and color…they looked great! For 39 cents an envelope it’s a steal! I’d use him again in a heartbeat.

Designer gave us the best price for what we wanted (antique Princess and a Chrysler 300M). Some of the other well known companies were quoting us a ridiculous amount of money. Designer has a solid reputation and a huge fleet or new cars in great condition. Our drivers were Joe for the antique Rolls and Robert for the 300M. Joe helped out in the church and fixed my train and veil. The cars were clean and our drivers were great. Couldn’t ask for anything more.
