Question for brides who got married at end of Sept. or early Oct.
Hi, girls. I am new to this website and am recently engaged. First let me start by saying congratulations to all those married brides!!
My wedding date is September 28, 2007. I will be having my cocktail hour at 8:30pm and at 9:30 - 1:30am reception.
This is where it gets a bit tricky. I have already booked my church for 5PM. Now, as i am sitting here thinking about everything I forgot that as the days go by through summer, the days will become shorter. I believe I have read that the sunset on my wedding date will be at 6:40PM. In my mind, b/c i am having a full mass, I do not feel as I will be able to take pics after the church b/c the sunset will starts at 6:40 and church will probably not be done until at least 6.
My question is this, are there any women on here who have had this problem? I am sitting here debating on calling the church to schedule it for 4 instead of 5 that day. I do want to be able to go to a park (hoping for nice weather) and take pics after I am married and before the cocktail hour and before it starts to get dark.
I am also concerned about my guests and if they attend the church b/c there would be a rather large time gap in between and I am wondering where these people will go during the time period of after the church and cocktail hour.
Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for your time.
Trisha

Re: Question for brides who got married at end of Sept. or early Oct.
I can't really help much bc my ceremony was at 3pm and my cktl hour started at 6pm. My church and reception was about 10 minutes way from one another.
After the full mass we took pictures and were about done a little after the cktl hour started. We were able to enjoy being outside and our cktl hour.
Have you considered taking pictures before your ceremony. We didnt want to do that, but a lot of people do. If not, I would try to change your ceremony to 4pm so you have a little extra time to take pics.
Good Luck!

I think it may start getting dark by then - could you take pictures before hand?
we got married at 3, and took pictures right after.

Re: Question for brides who got married at end of Sept. or early Oct.
I would move it to 4p. i had the same issue with the sunset and outdoor pictures
I am getting married in October - having a full mass too. My cocktail hr starts earlier than yours at 7p. I am having my ceremony at 3p. They usuallly don't do that on a Friday night but they said it was ok, so I hoping they don't change it on me. Also - 3p on Friday in the fall - don't know how many people will come to the ceremony, but everything is not always going to fit perfectly.
My sister just got married and had a 4p full mass and cocktail hr at 7p - she missed her cocktail hr b.c they were taking pictures. I think if you are not going to see each other before - you should leave enough time, so you are not rushing to take pics before the sunsets and arrive to your reception all stressed.
Your guests will find a way to pass the time - they always do.
