Prices for Bridesmaids Dresses
What would be considered the average price for a bridesmaids dress? I told one of my bridesmaids about $150, and she said that was too much to spend on a dress u only wear once.. I actually thought 150 was pretty cheap.. Was I wrong??

The only time I've heard of typical BM dresses $150 or less is if you go through Phyllis from Gownfind. At the shops all the ones I've seen from the major designers - Watters, Jim Hjelm, Levkoff, etc ... are $175+, and a lot were $200+

We got my BM dresses from Davids for 100 which was considered extremely cheap (thats what my BMs told me) so I would say 150 is definately average

$150 is definitely average and a fair price to ask your BM's to pay. Mine are round that. $160 is what my BM's dresses cost, it's a Bill Levkoff.
I was in a BP where the dress cost $350. That I thought was too much but I didn't say anything to the bride.

I think $150 is an fairly low-normal price for bridesmaid dresses but if you want to try and keep it lower I know that Bride Save has great prices and has manay dresses that are right arround $100. I bought my wedding dress from there and had no problems. Also they take returns on all dresses that are not discontinued which is really helpful. You can find a dress there and then have your BM's go try it on in a store and then if you like them you could order them online. I know that I got my wedding dress for about 1/2 of retail and I think their BM dresses are discounted similarly.

I agree.. That's where I am getting my gowns from.. 135$ for WToo gowns.. Very helpful too!

I got mine for 114 through Phyllis... normally i think 170 or so... so saved a bunch of money for my girls

NO.....your friend is lucky you you are trying to stay in that price range. Seems to me that all the ones I like, minus one Jordan one, are 200.
150 is average and a very fair price

I would say it is a good price. I found a dress for about that much then found another for about $120. It also depends where you look.

Thank you ladies.. Me and my FH had a huge fight about this today because its his sister that is saying that its too much to spend on a dress she will wear once.. So ofcourse I got mad... I guess if she doesnt want to get the dress, I will just replace her.. But I dont want friction between us either.. I dont know

The one I picked is about the same and I thought that was cheap compared to some stories Ive heard!

I think $150 is pretty good my BM dresses will be $178 + alterations and I thought that was pretty good ~ I have been in BP's where they were alot $265 + alterations...(and alterations cost just as much as the dresss since I lost a lot of weight @ the time)

If that is too much for her...maybe consider getting her a gift certificate with the bridal store you are getting your dresses as part of her BM gift

You're not wrong at all! $150 is cheap. I think mine BM's dresses are $155. And she shouldn't being talking back to you like that. You have no control over the prices. I usually pay around $200 when I'm a BM. good luck!
