"Mr. and Mrs. Mary and John Smith" - is this proper invitation wording?
My girlfriend wants to include both names on her invitations. I know you typically write "Mr. and Mrs. John Smith request your presence at the marriage of blah blah blah ( hahaha ). My girlfriend's invitation reads:
"Mr. and Mrs. John and Mary Smith request the honor of your presence at the marriage of their daughter XXX XXX to XXXX XXX, son of Mr. and Mrs. Mike and Jane Jones"
is that okay? or do the female names need to be removed?
What do you think?

Im definitely of the mindset that the woman's name should be included.
I think Mr. and Mrs. John Smith is waaayyy to old school and would never LOVE being referred to as that.

i never want to be called Mrs. hisname lastname
BUT when it's mr & mrs...then i'm ok with it.
if she doesn't have his name (didn't change her name) then you'd use her name but like this:
MR. JOHN SMITH AND MS. JANE DOE

I think it's great to include both names, however...
It should read "Mr. & Mrs. Mary and John Smith"
The woman's name comes first (that's cause we're most important?!?!) Seriously though, since the female is only a "Smith" by marriage, the male name should be closest to the surname...
My mother's hero is Emily Post, and I've been hearing this one non-stop...

On our wedding invite we didn't put Mr. and Mrs. we just put Dad's First name and Mom's First name Last Name invite you to join in BLAH BLAH BLAH
Example: John and Mary Smith invite you to join in BLAH BLAH BLAH
