my crazy friend .....sorry so long

ok well i was debating wether or not i should post about this but i def could use some opinions from an outsider on this one......a girl who i have been friends with for almost ten years someone who i was once inseperable with has gone down the opposite path in life than me......a little background history


when i met FH i pretty much tried to hook her up with every single one of his friends basically so we could still always hang out......obviously that didnt work out and she ended up meeting a guy about a year later......to say the least this guy was a real jerk , but they ended up dating for about three years when she finally had enough sense to leave him.......ever since they have been broken up......she has been on a downward spiral with partying, guys , and no career goals . She has also dated a number of her ex's friends to prove some kind of a point.......through all of this we have drifted apart and back together , trying to stay interested in one anothers lives , but all in all we have nothing in common except our past and our mutual friends that we share......... so heres the bombshell.....this boy she has been dating for about two weeks( another friend of the ex) she is going around telling ppl that they are engaged!!! (yet she has no ring on her finger) and interestingly enough she has told EVERYONE except her "best friend" me.........im sure she thinks i wil just laugh at her.....anyways my question to you girls is ......what and if anything should i do about this girl? i do care about her as a person but im not sure anyone can help her.....do i just let all of our years of friendship go????
p.s. shes a bridesmaid!!!

I know it may be hard but maybe you can try talking to her about it, i had something close to this happen to me and unfortuantly we are not friends anymore. We didnt end it on a bad note and still send each other bday cards but we just went seperate ways and trust me it was hard. I think you have to do what your heart tells you too do!!!!

I can definitely relate to this one. I think we all have a friend like that: in my case is the person who introduced FH and I through mutual friends. She too is in my bridal party but everyone that knows her also know how she is and so it has no reflection on me. She also wanted to be my MOH because she introduced us but that place was reserved for my HS best friend and I explained that to her. We talk on the phone occasionally but don't really get to spend time together because in the past all we would do is go clubbing and I'm over that now.
I really don't think you can save her but you can be honest with her about the way you feel and you can also gently let her know what she is doing wrong that's the approach I took ( with no friction). I don't think you should totally cut her out of your life because it's hard to find friends that know you for who you really are.

yeah shes def one of "those" friends thats good for like going out and stuff........but whatever...thanks for the support
