Legal Q? regarding married last name
I am planning to hyphant my last name and DH's last name.. is it true that I can legally use both names? Or will I have to change all my documents to the new last name?
ie.. will I have to change my car title, house deed etc...?
TIA

Re: Legal Q? regarding married last name
it's better to be safe than sorry....and from what i recall reading, if you hyphenate it legally, you gotta change it everywhere else and use that version.....you'd be best to ask someone who works with this stuff than us, but i believe i read something just the other day about how if you change it, that's the name you are supposed to use....can create huge problems for you later when things don't "add up."
eta---so yes, you will need to not only change all forms of ID, but your car title, deed to house, insurance policies, name at work.....anything that bears your name now, needs to be changed.

Yes, you will need to change everything. Both last name would now be your legal last name.

Re: Legal Q? regarding married last name
I was told that if you just add the name w/out a hyphen you can use them interchangebly

this is what I heard too from the lady at the clerk's office. Anyone else heard this as well?
