April 7, 2006 - Milleridge Cottage - The Best Day of My Life!

I'm married! Ya! Today is my one month anniversary! So, I figured it's time to finally sit and write my review! My wedding was amazing! It was even better than I dreamed. We had SO MUCH FUN!!!!! I think it was the best wedding I've ever been to! Everything just turned out perfect. We enjoyed every second of it. And now, I can't believe it's over!

Weather - A - It was cloudy all morning and even drizzled. But, by the time the limo arrived, the sun came out and it turned out to be a beautiful day!

Makeup - Kristen from the Laura Mercier counter at Bloomingdales in Roosevelt Field- A+ - I can't say enough about Kristen! She was awesome! She did my makeup, plus my mom and 5 of my bridesmaids. She did such a beautiful job!!! I was so happy. And, one of my bridesmaids was having hair trouble so she even fixed her hair for her after finishing our makeup. She is sooooo nice and sooo talented.

Hair - Fox and Company Salon, Floral Park - A+/C Well, Lisa did my hair. And I rate her an A++++. She did such an amazing job! I loved my hair. It was even better than the trial and it looked absolutely beautiful. All 7 of my bridesmaids got their hair done her by 4 different people. Most of them liked their hair. But, 2 girls had major hair disasters. By the time the photographer got to my house their hairstyles were falling out. THey both got their hair done by the same person who it turns out doesn't do up-do's. Um...that's a piece of information that would have been helpful ahead of time. So, I give my hair stylist an A but the salon overall gets a C

Flowers - Pedestals - B - Okay...well, I did LOVE my flowers. They were soooo pretty and I've gotten a lot of compliments on them. I only used pedestals for the personals, not for the centerpieces. But, I am giving them a B for a few reasons. First of all, I tole them about 5 times that the girls bouquets should be blue with a splash of green. They came with a little more green than I wanted. And I'm usually not so picky, but I stressed this sooooo much beforehand, that I feel it should have been done correctly. Secondly, the flowers weren't all labeled so I wasn't exactly sure of who's flowers belonged to who as far as mom's, dad's, stepmoms, grandfather's etc. Third, I found it a bit irritating that they insisted that ALL the flowers be dropped off at my house. Even the groom's. It was just one extra thing for me to worry about. My aunt ended up coming to my house early so that SHE could take the flowers to the church for my husband and his bridal party. Meanwhile, they were bringing some flowers to the church anyway so why they couldn't bring his their too, i still don't know. Fourth, and this is the biggie. I had asked for two bouquets to be placed in the front of my church up on the altar. It was supposed to be white roses, with blue hydrangea and just a touch of lavender. Well, I was screaming in my head when I noticed the hideous dark purple flowers in the bouquets. it looked horrible. My friend pulled all the dark purple out for me when we brought them over to the reception.

Limos - Royalty - A+ I loved them! First of all, they upgraded our limos for free. I'm still not sure why. Right before the wedding I went to drop off the last payment. Well, the woman helping me at the time was having a family emergency and I was very understanding and very patient through the whole thing, so I think that's why they upgraded us. The limos were HUGE! So nice! And the limo drivers were awesome! They were right on time and just so friendly and so helpful. I also used them for my bachelorette party. The service really was great.

Photo/Video - Silverfox - B for Photography C for Video We had Frank as our main photographer. Franco as our photojournalist and I can't remember the video guy's name off the top of my head. But, they were all EXCELLENT! They all had really great personalities and worked really well with the bridal party. They actually made taking pictures fun. We really enjoyed working with them. I gave a ridiculously long list of pictures I wanted taken throughout the day and I'm pretty sure they got every single one. They were completely unobtrusive throughout the day. We were really very happy. AND, I already got my proofs back last week. Less than a month later.

UPDATE After getting my proofs and going through them, I realized there were a lot of pictures I had requested, that were not taken.
So, I gave them a B instead of an A

They get a C in video. The videographer was with us for about 9 hours, and my unedited video is only an hour and 20 minutes. You do the math. I don't quite understand why most of my day isn't on the unedited video. Do I want to sit around watching 9 hours worth of video, orf course not, however, he missed pretty much most of my day. I am extremely upset about this.


DJ - Energy Entertainment Group - Mark Cord - A++++++++++++++++++ - By far our absolute favorite vendor. He's just amazing. He came highly recommended. We know 7 other couples that used him at their wedding and we had already been to 3 weddings where he DJ'd. We LOVE this vendor. He got the crowd pumping. THe dance floor was packed the ENTIRE night. He played a great selection of different kinds of music. He played every single song we requested. He did a great job of playing different genres to reach different tastes. He MADE our wedding. It was sooooooooo much FUN!!!!! I would recommend this vendor a thousand times over to anyone!!!!!!!!!!!! 516-249-8844

MILLERIDGE COTTAGE - A+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ I don't even know where to begin. We loved Milleridge right from the very start. They did an absolute amazing job right from the second we first walked in the door last January. We worked with Kristy all throughout the planning process. She was our banquet manager and was always so friendly and incredibly helpful. Steve was our MaitreD. He just might be the nicest person I've ever met. THe service was unbelievable. ANy time Corey and I turned around, he was placing another drink in our hand or asking if we needed anything. The bridal attendants did a great job too. I can't remember either one of their names. But all I know is I felt like a princess. They took such good care of us. The service was great and the food was EXCELLENT! I don't have one single complaint. We had 250 guests and they just took such great care of us. The room looked absolutely beautiful. They did a WONDERFUL job of making our wedding even more than we could have hoped for. I can't wait for the day when Corey and I can be guests at a wedding there. We absolutely loved it and are soooo happy we chose Milleridge!

B]Dresses - Lillettes - B My dress was great! I loved it! They did a great job! The reason I gave them a B is really because of some issuses with the bridesmaids dresses. Two of the girls dresses had stains on them when they were picked up. So, the store had to keep them longer to clean them. Also, I had asked them to save all the material from the dresses for the florist and they only saved the material from 3 of the 7 dresses so i had nothing to really give my florist. The service wasn't always the best. There are a few very nice people that work there, and then there are some that seem to me to be the most miserable women alive. Paula was my seamstress and she was sooo nice. but there were some others that seemed only to care about their lunch and dinner break.

Tuxedo's - Afterhours Formal Wear in Wesbury - F Oh my goodness! What a nightmare! Warn everyone you know NOT to use them!!!! We had sooooooooooooooo much trouble with this vendor. I would be here all day if I had to write all the problems we had with them. They were just a nightmare right from the start. We had nothing but trouble. They forgot to add people to the order. I would add the missing guys and then when they went in for measurements they weren't listed, they gave two guys the wrong vests, jackets were too big, pants too long, too short. It was AWFUL! Corey went to get his tux 3 days before the wedding and it was ALL wrong. so he went back the day before the wedding and it was still wrong. I could go on and on and on. They were TERRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

FLowers - Centerpieces - Milleridge Florist - A I loved my centerpieces. Nothing big. One dozen white roses and bushels of blue hydrangea in a bubble vase. They looked beautiful!

Cake - Milleridge Bakery - A - It was beautiful and delicious. What more could you ask for?

Invitations and Favors - Annette from I Heard Your Getting Married - She's a friend of my husbands and she was wonderful. Everything came out GREAT!!!!

Honeymoon - Sandals Jamaica Dunn's River - A Wow! We loved it! We had such a great time! The service was Great! We can't wait to go back!

And now is the time I try to insert pictures! Yikes! Wish me luck!
