repost from newlyweds board: mothers day drama
OK, so my sister in law called us like a week ago and said she was making dinner reservations for all of us and my mother in law for sunday night. Ok great, so I figure Ill have a nice brunch for my mom that morning either at our place or out somewhere. Well, I talked to my sister today and apparantly my mom is hurt by that. She feels that I am just "fitting her in" when I can . ggrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, we have done so well with holidays up until now, making everyone happy and now im so frustrated! Were thinking of having both moms and there significant others over our place for dinner on Saturday instead and then just stopping by on Sunday with flowers or something. What do you think? (sorry so long!)

I think you can never make everyone happy. Do what you can and know that is the best you can do. Seriously though, no one will ever always be happy. I've been dealing with these issues for years now with FH and his family and trying to see mine too.

just make the brunch for your mom extra special -- buy her some things she loves
i'm sure once she's in the moment she'll feel that you're not just 'fitting her in"
