NWR: Dumb, embarrassing LAUNDRY question: UPDATED, everything is OK!! YAY!!
Can you wash a bath rug?? You know the little fluffy rugs you step on when you come out of the shower? I have one and it's a little dirty, normally I scrub it on my hands and knees and dry it with the blow-dryer b/c I never knew if it could be washed in the machine or not, the machine will be so much EASIER than the hands and knees way of doing it!!!...
SO can it?? Can I wash it on gentle or something and if I do that-- how do I dry it? Hang it outside because I'm afraid the dryer will melt the rubber non-slip backing...
Has anyone done this before?? HELP I'm new at this laundry stuff and clothes are the limit for me so far as to what I know how to wash...

Wash it on gentle cycle and air dry it! Leave it on the floor where no one will step on it or hang it over a door.

LOL thank you sooo much!! and i'm assuming the normal tide stuff is fine to put in the machine?
I used to like SWEAT and work so hard scrubbing it that FH said to me, there has to be an easier way!! hahahaha i'm so pathetic!!!
but it HAD to be clean-- i'm going to go try it now and then i'll hang it over the deck in the back...

I wouldn't wash it in your washing machine because sometimes they do disintigrate sometimes.

OH GOD I HOPE THAT DOESN'T HAPPEN!!!!
i mean, i've SEEN my mom do it before i just never knew how-- omg asthma attack, my FH will KILL me if it gets ruined because he only just bought it like 2 weeks ago and was complaining about how it was 40 dollars for just a little rug!!!!
 
All that i can do now is just PRAY

ok i just spoke to fh and he said that since i was trying to do the right thing by cleaning it he won't get mad if i ruin it-- but i still don't want it to be ruined, it's the perfect color

it will be fine! im sure your mom has done it 1,000 times. Ii know my aunt washes the rug like every other week. she is obsessive! i wash the downstairs one too about once a month. it will be fine! and if its not i will feel absolutely horrible and buy you a new one lol please let me know how it turns out

LOL thanks so much for your concern guys!!!
everything turned out great-- i think what makes them fall apart is the heat from the dryer-- so the rug is currently on the deck in the sun and it's almost all dry... i put it on gentle cycle with cold water so it wouldn't be warm in there at all...
thanks again so much, fh said he wouldn't have been upset, he thought it was funny i was so worried, but i just let him know everything is OK-- and it smells so good now and it's all clean!! i'm so obsessive with cleaning-- thank god no more hands and knees scrubbing though!!!
