At what point do you have to do seating and place cards?

At what point do you have to do seating and place cards?
Just wondering....I know we would have to wait until we got all of the responses...but I was just wondering the time frame in relation to the wedding...especially since we will be ordering place cards from Ink Spun most likely

Seating was easy for us. Since i had my place cards done by hand calligraphy, I did them about 2 weeks in advance. I had cards with envelopes and had them done separately as we did not know who would sit where. We put the cards in when we had a seating chart set. For the people who did not respond, we had the little envelopes made up anyway. It was only a few dollars to just be prepared.

we started our seating chart 1 week after the rsvp date.
i sent my list to my calligrapher last week (3 weeks b4 the wedding)
