Need Help Making Video Decision
Hi Girls! I need you!!
We decided a while back that we would not get a wedding video. We, like most couples here are on a budget so compromises have been made. We really wanted a Saturday night wedding and a live band which is costing a lot more $$$. With that we gave up a video, no big deal.
We met with our photographer last night and he said after the wedding I will regret not having a video. The only thing aside of your marriage you will have after the wedding are your pics and video..UGH so true
I don't know what to do?! I know he isn't trying to convince me to make more $$$ he doesn't even do video and he is my cousin.
Any thoughts??? TIA

Re: Need Help Making Video Decision
Everyone of my married friends who did not get a wedding video totally regrets it. And of coarse, the wife blames the husband for not getting the video. You can find a fair price for video.

Agree. Never skimp on the rings, photo & video. We too paid 100% for our wedding and were on a budget, but in the long run...it's soooo worth it. Items like those (rings, photo & video) most of the time can be paid on credit cards and are not due in one lump sum. We still have not paid for our photo & video in full because we have not picked up those items. The money you don't have now may be available by the time it's due...after the wedding...months after.
HTH!

Re: Need Help Making Video Decision
Honestly...the 1st thing that I told my FH is that i will cut corneres elsewhere but for our photo video I will not hesitate. He knew why I was saying it ( sinc ehe knows how I think) but he asked me anyway..."why do u say that?" the truth is that after all is said and done, the pics and videa will be what is left of it all. Ofcourse u will have eachother but form the actual day of the wedding....the day u have been planning for... thats what u will have to show for it. My brother and his wife watched their wedding videa and saw so many things that they didnt remember even happening cuz of all the other activities going on. I dunno this i sjuts my opinion, I hope this helped!! xo

A friend of mine didn't get one and her father passed away and she is soo upset now that she doesn't have a video for her wedding whoich was the lst days of his life. Re: Need Help Making Video Decision
I think the wedding video is definitely worth the money. We too are on a pretty strict budget and at one time considered eliminating the video. However, my friend (whose father passed away suddently almost 10 years ago) told me whenever she wants to see her dad alive and having a great time adn dancing with her, she looks at her brother's wedding video. This really got me thinking that someday some of those very special people wont be with you anymore and they are forever captured having a great time at a most special occasion. Also, we recently watched her wedding video and it really brings you right back to the day -emotions and all. I felt like I was at her wedding all over again. I would DEFINITELY recommend you reconsider and splurge on the video. Cut costs elsewhere --on things people (incl yourself) will not remember. This is a moment you cant get back if you opt to forget the video.
Good Luck and let us know what you decide to do.

Re: Need Help Making Video Decision
IMO, I think you will regret it. I also don't think you need to go all out if you want to save money. I say shop around for a very basic video package. Even if it a straight run, unedited version, I think you should get it. JMO

Re: Need Help Making Video Decision
We were in the same predicament. We had basically decided that we didn't need a video, we could use the money elsewhere. But then after speaking to so many past brides, we changed our mind. All the points everyone made are the reason we decided to go for it.

Re: Need Help Making Video Decision
Before speaking to my best friend, I was ADAMANT about not haveing the VIdeo to help cut corners THEN she said that she was so glad that she got the video because the very next year her dad passed away unexpectdly and each year on her anniversary she gets to "see"him. I thought about this and thought about my oldests sisters video and how when we look at it we see all our loved ones who have passed and how GREAT it is to have captured them alive and WELL at her wedding. Needless to say we are getting the video no matter the cost,....
HTH with out be morbid.....

Re: Need Help Making Video Decision
ITA with everyone here. We booked Ray from Timeless Treasures and he is affordable and I have read nothing but great reviews about him and how unobtrusive he is. I also like the idea that after he and I are gone, our future children will be able to look at the DVD and see how happy and in love we were. I think that's so beautiful and also like others have said, we can look at our relatives who may not be around much longer in later years.

Re: Need Help Making Video Decision
I agree, the video & pictures is the only memory you have left of that day that you can share with others in the future and look back on. Even if it is a basic package, I would get it done
I know people that have not looked at the pictures from their wedding in years, but the video is always that one thing that comes out one night when you start talking about "I remember when....."
I think you would regret it

Re: Need Help Making Video Decision
I was thinking the same thing because I am on a tight budget. I thought about it and you have the pictures to look at everyday but when you have the video you experience the day all over again when you watch the video.
My cousin got married last August she watch her video last week and was in tears.
A friend of mine dad past away after her wedding and she looks at the video from time to time to feel close to her dad.
Try first class video productions. I met with them and they impressed me. They work out of their home but the work is nice and they do the editing for the wedding Center. They have videos from 800 dollars. Im thinking of booking with them.

at first i wasnt going to get a video...but people say the wedding night goes so fast that all you have is your pics and video to remember it....i recommend getting a video..even if its the cheapest package...youll get to watch and see things that you probably didnt get to see..

Re: Need Help Making Video Decision
I am going to get a video. When you see past brides post there reviews they regret not getting a video. Or the ones who did get a video are soooo excited when it comes in. They see things on the video that they missed that night.

Re: Need Help Making Video Decision
I'd have to agree with the ladies getting a video helps capture the moments that are missed. Cameras cant capture everything. But I also understand working on a budget. Talk it over with your FH and go over your expenses. Ask family and friends if they know a good photographer, go to Colleges (sounds like a stretch) ask Art/Technology majors if they want to make some extra cash (hey you never know). Dont dispare about it. something will come up and you'll have your pics and your video.

Re: Need Help Making Video Decision
I'm going with photography and videography. I decided to go with ADA because they gave us the best deal for both and the quality was great. If you decide to just go with videography, because you already have the photographer you want to use, I would look into New York Videography, they were going to be my next choice to look at.
