I am getting married at Stewart Manor and want to give guest info on nearby accomodations. Anyone with there reception area near mine (floral park/ garden city area) blocking rooms off at hotels, If so which ones? and if you dont mind asking what rate did you get? Also if you did block off rooms at the hotel, do they have shuttle service that you can pay for to transport from reception hall to hotel? sorry so many questions thanks

Hi- When we had first booked Stewart Manor, we were told by Frank (no longer there) to block rooms at Floral Park Motor Lodge. He said, even though it's a motel, not hotel, it's somewhere "I would bring my wife", implying the rooms were very clean. I have not yet gone, but am planning on it towards the end of this week. I heard from a couple of brides on this board that it costs about $109/night. That's all I know...hope it helps! How are your other plans coming along? I remember when you first booked!! :)

We blocked rooms at Floral Park Motor Inn. There is nothing fancy about it but also nothing wrong. Marnles is right - $109/night. Right now there is the Wingate in Garden City and a Holiday Inn on Old Country Road. They are both about 149 per night. A red roof inn is opening by the mall in westbury soon. the rate on the side of the building is 89.99/nite. when they open i am going to try and get info there. If we can clock rooms there for less then 100/nite we are going to drop the block at Floral Park.

I have stayed at the Floral park motor inn when I went to a wedding at Floral Terrace, it is fine. But I kinda wanted to hang out after the wedding with some guests who were staying. How far is the the Wingate? Does it have a lounge or bar, what about restaurant for breakfast? same ques for Holiday Inn and Red Roof. I think I might block rooms at 2 hotels.

Where are you guys staying the night of your wedding?

I was thinking of staying at the Garden City Hotel and then maybe guests from the other hotels can come hang out there with us for awhile and then go back to their hotel. Or stay at Garden City Hotel if they want to. I already have 2 family members who said they would stay there. Plans are going good, I havent done much since I got back from vacation I need to get back into the swing of things. How are things going with you guys? hope all is good Kimberly I think one of these days I am going to drive to all the surrounding hotels and see how far they are and see what the rates are, thats when and if I have time for this

We blocked rooms at the Wingate Inn. We are paying $139 because it is a Sunday and $149 for anyone who stays the night before. My fiance and I are very picky so we went on a grand tour at Wingate and were very impressed. It is under two years old so it is really imaculate and very nicely decorated for a hotel!! We decided to take the King suite there for ourselves, that's how nice it is, rather than staying at Garden City Hotel for $500.00. The only downfall is that it DOES NOT have a bar, restaurant or lounge...BUT people will drink enough at the wedding and we can stock up and hang out in a suite later.....They also have continental breakfast in the morning.

I was thinking of staying at the Garden City Hotel as well, but then I heard the rooms are like $500 - is that true?? Do you know the going rate?If so, then we can't afford it...we're barely scraping by with the "must haves"!! I just looked up the Red Roof Inn - it looks like it is finished...I looked it up on yahoo maps (but you have to type in garden city, not westbury) and it seems to be about 8 miles away (15 minutes)...which I'm not sure is "too far"...perhaps I will block rooms at both, so people can choose. Good luck with all the plans and let me know if I can help with anything. I just finished ordering the bridesmaid dresses, and now I'm on to flowers and limos...:)

Stephsal...

Thanks for the heads up on the Wingate and price...you just confirmed the cost of the Garden City Hotel for me, which I had heard before, but couldnt' believe it - that price is not only out of our price range, but IMO, absolutely ridiculous...I will call Wingate and take a look! Thanks so much for that information...

I havent checked the rate at the Garden city hotel, I went to there site once, I dont remember the rate I got but I thought it was more like $250 (for basic room) I wont be paying $500 either, if thats the case I will be staying someone else. Need to go check out the hotels like I said. Thanks for all the info girls. Marnie I dont think 8 miles is too far, depends on which place is nicer and price. Where did you get bridesmaids dresses and what designer? I havent even started looking? Let me know how it goes with the flowers, since I still need to do like everything

Hotel Info I got....

I believe the Garden City Hotel has basic rooms that start at 299/night. Their getaway/romance/honeymoon packages are more expensive - they include breakfast and/or dinner. The Red Roof Inn was supposed to open last week, but didn't. FH tried talking to group sales and they said to call back at the end of april. The Wingate as stated does not have a bar or restaurant. There is a coffee shop 1/2 block away. The Holiday Inn has a bar and restaurant plus it is on Old Country road with a bazillion restaurants/bars right there.

Wyngate in Garden City

I blocked off rooms at the Wyngate. Yes they have a shuttle service - but its not free - still cheaper than any other option. They would only block off 10 rooms though until I fill those. The rate they gave me was $140. Just make sure you ask them to put aside as many double bed rooms as possible. I'm not sure what your situation is, but I also have friends who don't want to drive home to suffolk county and they may want to share a room. I am staying there also. I saw the rooms - they are very nice. Nothing crazy - but very nice. They have a few different size suites.

I've stayed there, it was fine. The cheapest rates I could find in this area were 149$ block rooms for wingate, 144$ block rooms for the holiday inn in westbury on old country road, and 169$ for the uniondale marriot. I'll tell you what I'm afraid of...that my long distance guest are going to get on the internet and try to find cheaper places and wind up at some seedy motel!!

I can't imagine guests looking for cheaper rates...actually I would not be surprised by anything these days....:) Garden sity is $500.00 for a honeymoon suite....My Wingate suite is costing us about $299.00 I believe....but I may be off by a little, I believe that is what it is. It is a tremendous suite....huge bathroom....Should be fine...Good luck to all...This accomidations thing is a real pain!!

Thanks everyone

I will have to map it out and see which are the closet and maybe block rooms at 2 hotels so the guests can pick. I'll decide which I like better to stay in. So far the Garden City is out, Im not gonna pay $500 for a night, especially when I wont be there long and I have a 2 week honeymoon to follow. Thanks all, keep me posted, as I will when I decide which Hotels. Kimberly
