SWR: Apartment Question/Moving -Updated on 2nd page!

So here's the deal.
We werent goign to start looking yet for a place to live, butttt a friend of my moms friend told her shes renting out her apartment...So we go look at it the other night and we REALLY Liked it.....3 bedroom, BIG lving room, didning room, eat in kitchen, 1.5 baths.
Only prob is: 1400 a month
the apt is in howard beach close to the train so we can take it to work...

What should we do? continue to look or just take this one? we reallyyy liked it

is it even too early to start lookin for apts? we plan to move in july 1st or july 5th...

tia

Re: SWR: Apartment Question/Moving

Jeanine, it sounds wonderful. Yes its steep, but not for a 3 bedroom. We're paying 1325 for a 2 bedroom.

It's also not too early, maybe another week or so...

Good luck, but the apt sounds great & convenient

Ours is a 2 bedroom for $1300. I wish I could tell you how much utilities are, but both places we've lived on Long Island have included them.

My 1 bedroom is 1400 in Forest Hills. If rent goes up we're probably moving.

Honestly, from where we looked, that's not a bad price for a 3 bedroom. If you love it, then I would take it.

That is very reasonable for a 3 bedroom. i used to pay $1450.00 for a one bedroom in a doorman building.

Re: SWR: Apartment Question/Moving

Janine-
I say take it. It's a good area and a GREAT price. I'm paying $1350 for a 2 BR, includes utilites (b/c FH's dad is my landlord). Find out if utilites are included or not, use that as a negotiating tool.

And it's not too early to start looking!!

Re: SWR: Apartment Question/Moving

I would so take it. You will never find an apt that large in Queens for less than 1400. My mom pays 1200 for a 1 bedroom in Flushing. TAKE IT!!! Utility bills are not too bad, just make sure you are careful with the lights. My electric bill in the winter is on 35.00 per month, in the summer with the AC's going it's arount 80.00-you can get basic phone service for about 60.00 per month & cable-all depends on how many channels you need!

Re: SWR: Apartment Question/Moving

Jeanine Mr Broderick and I took the first apartment that we looked at...there is a lot of crap out there! If you have found something great take it!! We found it in March and we were able to get our move in date pushed to April. I think its much better to have it a few month before your wedding because you will want to do things in the apartment and furnish it and stuff...and that gets a little stressful but its fun!!! GOOD LUCK..SOOO HAPPY FOR YOU!!
