What exactly is threading? Does it hurt?

I just "switched" to threading. in regards to pain, it's really like a slight "twitch". A girl holds the end of her thread in her mouth and the other one in her hand. She twists the thread and "moves" it to remove the hair.

It's great. She can grab smaller hair than waxing. It's also cheap. $4-$6 and just takes minutes.

If you don't mind going into Manhattan, definitely try the Anastasia salon inside of the Sephora at Times Square (its actually part of the store). Anastasia does the eyebrows of celebs like Oprah. It's $35 I believe.

Re: Eyebrow Waxing

I have had some really bad experiences because my eyebrows are basically impossible!! I even tried Eliza in the Avon Spa since I read she does JLo but she didnt help me and I had to wait 3 months for an appointment and pay over $100.

I finally found a woman, Ingrid, who works at the Sothy's Spa in the city (57th and 6th). She is amazing. She charges $60 for the first time since she spends a lot of time waxing, cutting etc and then it is $30 for every time after.

I go to Bloomingdales in Manhattan. The Lacome counter. They used to have a separate eyebrow studio. I use Janet.

Re: Eyebrow Waxing

I love threading! I always had so much trouble with waxing (either getting burned by wax or not getting them shaped well). I find with the threading, they are a lot more precise and always shaped better. The pain is about the same for me.

One word of advice, dont get upper lip threaded, impossibly painful, me eyes usually wind up welling up with tears from the pain

Re: Eyebrow Waxing

I have been getting my eyebrows and upper lip threaded for 5 yrs now and I will never go back to waxing.....It hurts a bit but it goes away without getting the redness and bumps from waxing.....
I go to a place in New Hyde Park or a place in Bellrose....They are both called Rani.....

Sana beauty salon on 107 (accross medical center) south of Old country Road. I posted a recommendation request on waxing a while ago and a couple of people told me about that place.

Re: Eyebrow Waxing

I'm just about to go get mine done for the first time on LI. I'm going to All For You Day Spa at noon in Holtsville. I'll try to remember to post my experience when I get back. FOrgive me if I don't because I'm a week away from my wedding and my brain is shot. If I forget, FM me.

So far, every experience FH and I have had with them has been great, but today is my first waxing.
