Catholic Brides - Communion Question

In the form I filled out in the back of the "book" given to us at our PreCana class which indicates Readings, Homily, etc..... They ask who I want to take communion. I was thinking of just myself, FH and MOH and BM, for several reasons, but the most important one is that my family and his are very mixed when it comes to religion. So I don't want to make anyone feel uncomfortable when some people are going up for communion, plus it can be time consuming.

So my question:

Do you think it would be OK to just have us four take communion? I'm not sure if this is even possible yet, I'll definitely have to talk to our priest/deacon but I was wondering what you ladies think, did or are doing. Thanks.

Honestly, I would offer it to everyone or just you, FH, MOH & BestM.

I am another who agrees to offer it to all. If someone doesn't practice, or is another religion, I doubt they will feel left out, or uncomfortable. I have sat through Communion at times and never felt awkward. It's nice to offer to those that want to celebrate your first communion as husband and wife.

Re: Catholic Brides - Communion Question

I don't think the Priest would agree to only give it to the bridal party if there will be other Catholic's in the congregation. I would give everyone the opportunity to participate.

Re: Catholic Brides - Communion Question

i gather that you are having a mass and i think the priest would want to offer it to everyone- it is a mass after all.

Re: Catholic Brides - Communion Question

I would most DEFINITELY offer it to everyone there. I think Communion is the time where we are one in our faith community and it is a nice gesture to include ALL that may want to receive. i think it brings a nice sense of community and unity to your ceremony. i think if there are people that WANT to receive at Mass and then aren't given the opportunity may feel excluded. those that do not want to receive should stay seated.....and I don't think they would feel excluded if it's not something they are comfortable doing anyway and/or it is outside their faith tradition.

Re: Catholic Brides - Communion Question

I think the Church will state they need to offer it to everyone and those who don't want to take it, don't have to.

Re: Catholic Brides - Communion Question

I personally don't think that is right. If you don't want people to feel uncomfortable maybe you may want to consider just having a ceremony. JMO

I agree...not sure a priest would do it. I'm curious though what he says...let us know!
