Question for Ladies who know upstate NY
A friend of DH's parents gave us as our wedding gift, a weekend at her log cabin in Woodstock, along with GC's for a restaruant, wine shop, and candle shop (by far my FAV wedding gift).
DH and I are heading up there in three weeks for my birthday weekend. I've never been there and was just wondering what kind of sightseeing we should do while we are there, are there any must see or must eat at places?
TIA

I know there is a really cool town there and a huge candle store, with one of the worlds largest candles!!!!!! Its a cool, artsy, hippie town. Don't remember any restaurants. You will just love it.

Go to Sweet Sue's in nearby Phoenecia for breakfast - one of the gay shop owners up there says it is the best. And it is - they have huge pancakes with fresh fruit - yum.
But get there early or you have to wait! Have fun!

Re: Question for Ladies who know upstate NY
There was this AMAZING trail my friends and I used to hike up in Woodstock. The views were breathtaking! I don't recall the name or where it's located, but I'll find out for you. It's where the Monk's live...They allow people to hike on their property. It's a hell of a hike, but soooo worth it when you get up to the top!
Catskill Corners is a great place to check out too. I remember when they started this place...great restaurants in the area. It's located in Mount Tremper.
For shopping Kingston has built up a LOT since I was last there.
ETA: I think the Monastery is on Meads Mountain Road, but I'll find out for sure.
ETA: Here it is...It's called Overlook Mountain. Here's a link for some info LINK
