I need some help girls. I am so mad at myself!

I honestly don't understand how I ALLOWED myself to gain about 8 lbs. I was in pretty decent shape, and it went all to pot. My clothes arent' fitting me right now (TOO TIGHT! ) and I just feel awful. All the fat goes to 2 places..my face and my hips...

my dress is fine...it's still a little big and will need to be taken in...but the first place you see my weight gain is my face....I am going to look like a BLOATED BEAST on my wedding day, and in years to come I will see how my LAZINESS AND GLUTTONY caused me to be unhappy about my appearance.

I really need to loose this weight...but HOW...in 37 days, without doing damage to myself...

the worst part is fh is in the BEST shape of his life right now...I am so happy for him, but I feel just GROSS and AWFUL that I have to stand next to him like this!

Of course, he hasn't said a word, but it's not about HIM, it's about ME.....

I have figured out my fitness routine from now until the wedding...now it's DIET time...

sorry ladies. I just need to vent.

Re: I need some help girls. I am so mad at myself!

Follow weight watchers, if you stick to it you could lose 2lbs a week and all the extra weight you gained. If you really stick to it it works and its really not bad, try it!

Re: I need some help girls. I am so mad at myself!

just what what you eat and excersize, you could definitely lose 8 lbs in a month- that 2 lbs a week, not unhealthy.

ETA: you will look beautiful and radiant on your wedding day no matter what.

Re: I need some help girls. I am so mad at myself!

One thing I have found it to cut carbs out of my diet (lunch). I don't eat bread anymore - I make my sandwich on a wrap. I don't each chips/doritos - but if I do it's no-salt tostitos. Drink LOTS of WATER and exercise! Take it one step at a time and you'll see changes.

Oh Jess, I'm sorry that you're unhappy about your appearance right now. You're still beautiful, but I know you won't believe me, you have to feel it. So just stick to it for the next 37 days and you'll feel better. Eight pounds really isn't that much, you can do it!!

How do you guys follow that when you work? It seems so hard to me to follow those meal plans. Is there a formula that I can follow, rather than a specific meal plan?

I dont cook so I would try to substitute it with something else tha t you're allowed to have or buy it...all I eat for breakfast now is low fat cottage cheese and omelets (w/egg whites) once in a while...cut out all starches and you'll be fine!

nothing fried, nothing past 8pm, eat foods you find on the perimeter of the grocery store - IE fresh. Bring lunch to work, lots of water, green tea, 100 calorie snack packs, cut out breads/pastas as much as possible.

I think 37 days is more than enough time to lose 8 pounds. Don't stress it. I find Weight Watchers to be very helpful, but I know some other ladies on here are having success with Souch Beach as well. You can do it Jess!!!!!

Re: I need some help girls. I am so mad at myself!

I know the feeling Jessica...I am in the same boat but I have 15 days to go! I lost over 20lbs over the summer & I felt wonderful. I guess with all the anxiety & stress, I put some back on (about 10lbs). My dress fits beautifully but I am the same way, my weight goes to my face! When I see how chubby it has gotten, I get sick!

Plus FH is in the best shape & is so dedicated to working out & eating healthy! Why can't he rub off on me???

If I can give you any advice, lay off the carbs & processed sugars...You don't want to bloat & it will let you lose something..Drink TONS of water!!! I started this 1 week ago & started to feel better!!!

Re: I need some help girls. I am so mad at myself!

If you watch what you eat and work out (which you already mentioned you are going to do ) I think you can lose the weight.

You have 4 weeks to go and losing 2lbs a week is possible. Even if you only lose 1/2 the weight 4lbs, I am sure you will feel better.

I know this is how you are feeling about how you look but seeing your pictures from your shower I did not think your face looked fat or bloated. I thought you looked great!

I understand if you do not feel that way because I am also on a diet for the wedding. Everyone at work (I work with a lot of men) keep saying it is silly I am on a diet, I feel I hide my weight well and know how to wear clothes to hide my flaws. Anyway this thread is not about me, but I wanted you to know I understand how frustrated you may be feeling about what people may think is a trivial amount of weight.

Good Luck.......I think you can do it!!

Re: I need some help girls. I am so mad at myself!

oh and someone linked me to a great sectoin on foodnetwork. It has a healthy meal plan for the week, 3 meals.

You get the recipes, shopping list and a game plan for making the stuff in advance (on the weekend maybe). It's very helpful. I made one meal so far on Tuesday night and it was delish.

to your health

Re: I need some help girls. I am so mad at myself!

oh one more thing, salt.

I don't know about you, but I was a salting fiend. It was VERY HARD, actually more difficult that going vegetarian but I cut salt. BIG difference.

so all those canned items, and "tv dinners/lunches" that are ridiculous high in sodium are the devil.

Re: I need some help girls. I am so mad at myself!

Honestly, your best bet for losing weight fast and safely is the South Beach diet. I'm on WW now to lose the last bit of weight, but I lost 30 lbs on South Beach and have kept it off for a few years now. The first bit you lose will be water, but after the first two weeks it will be real weight. You may even lose more than the 8 lbs you gained. Seriously, I would invest the money in the book and follow it religiously.

Re: I need some help girls. I am so mad at myself!

this is the thing girls...I cook VERY healthfully, don't make much fried food at all...veggies/salad, lean meats...etc

the problem is RICE...I know it sounds stupid, but dinner is my downfall for a few reasons..

1) most of the time, fmil cooks now since she is home, and she almost NEVER makes a veggie- just RICE and meat (maybe sauteed with some onions and peppers, but more for flavor than anything

2) laziness...knowing that FMIL probably won't make a veggie, I still OPT NOT to make a salad- so then I eat too much RICE LOL

3) I eat fast and hate to eat cold food. fh is SLOW...by the time he takes a first bite, I am usually almost half way done, and he eats A LOT, b/c he runs so much....so sitting with him, I finish my plate and just KEEP EATING...waiting for him to finish...

this is what I really have to fix....I have to gain control over dinner.....I probably eat upwards of a 2 cups of RICE at dinner... LOL poor rice...I've turned it into the devil!

Honestly Jess, it's so easy! I never follow it EXACTLY if I'm just not around the food. You learn to substitute, and know what to stay away from. This is the ONE and ONLY "diet" that has ever worked for me. EVER. It's fantastic, b/c in the two weeks (Phase I) you honestly can lose 15 pounds like nothing. It's a life lesson too, and builds discipline in staying away from the "no-no" carbs...

I buy all my food from the vendors/deli's around work b/c I don't bring food from home. If I do bring food from home, I make it the night before, put it in tupperware and bring it in the next day. Theyr'e easy recipes.

Anyway, for example:

If I can't make an eggwhite omlette in the morning, I'll buy two boiled eggs and not eat the yolk, with a tomato juice (or V8) and a decaff tea...

You can get grilled chicken anywhere, ceasar salad's anywhere, etc....it's honestly NOT hard at all.

that's the whole reason it worked for me, b/c I didn't have to do a lot of preparing, I could go to any restaurant and eat, not have eto count things, not memorize anything...it's super EASY. and You know I'm super LAZY!

oh rice, how I love thee...

try couscous. make yourself a vat of it and store it in tupperware in the fridge. I just tried it for the first time this week (as per the meal plan posted above). And it's not too shabby. It's no rice, but we can't have it all. And while your at it, get those pre cut carrots and break those out while your sitting at the table waiting for your slow, endless eater to finish. If you don't like carrots, substitute for something else that is crunchy, healthy and takes a moment to chew. Keeps you occupied.

Re: I need some help girls. I am so mad at myself!

Rice is the WORST!!!! It tastes so yummy but it is filled with carbs!!!!

Don't be lazy & make the salad to offset the rice...Also try to steam some frozen carrots & broccoli (only 6 minutes in the microwave) You can add some garlic or what not & they are tasty....
