Re: no first dance song??
Thats ok, FH is like that also. You can still have a first dance song but instead of starting off with only you and FH dancing, you can have FH, you and BP start off the first song all together.

Re: no first dance song-or announcements??
honesty we went to a destination wedding like that & other for the 20 min. ceremony there was no way to know you were at a wedding it was really.. different, NO ONE DANCED** I think b/c everyone waited for the too... Cake cutting wasn't a big deal it was so nonchalant, I felt like the thing was hyped to -zilch ,

Re: no first dance song-or announcements??
it was lovely... There wasn't alot of food... no cocktail hour although their was a nice 4 couse mean served w/ cigars afterwards... To be honest almost everyone was sitting on chairs outside on the porch... it didn't feel like we were at a wedding reception

FH and I are skipping the intros, but we are having a first dance. We BOTH hate being in the spotlight, but our song has a lot of meaning and we're both excited about dancing with each other to it. I'm certain we won't even notice the people around us.

Re: no first dance song-or announcements??
We are doing the first dance.
Why dont you just do the first dance but have the DJ/band cut the time you and your FH dance alone, instead of you guys dancing alone for like the first 2 mins of the song, just dance alone for like 30 seconds and then have the bridal party and everyone join in.

Re: no first dance song-or announcements??
We went to a wedding in Toronto in December, and they do things a little differently there. There was no first dance, father/daughter dance, mother/son dance, cake cutting etc...... And it was still a beautiful wedding.
They do things a little differently there, everyone (parents, siblings, etc...) sit at a dias and EVERYONE makes speeches! Seriously, the speeches went on for a good 45 minutes.

Re: no first dance song-or announcements??
We are doing a first dance but, my FH wants to pick a song that starts out slow and then gets faster and when it gets faster invite everyone out to join us.
His friends did that. The only problem we are having is trying to find a song, that's not the one his friends chose, and that we like.

Re: no first dance song-or announcements??
My husband had no interest in being announced or having the first dance. He does not like being in the spot light and have everyone looking at him.
The day of your wedding you are in the spot light no matter how much you try not to be. You are in a ton of pictures, you are in a dress that everyone is talking about, and you are the ones getting the gifts. So we decided to just go out there and have an amazing time because people are going to be looking only at the two of you no matter how much you try to avoid it.
I think you should have your first dance and enjoy every minute of it because before you know it the night is over and you are like what just happened.
I also feel that if the both of you set the tone for your day. If the both of you go out there and have a blast than all of your guest will be on that same page.
