My first florist appointment

Was awful. The person who we had an appointment with kept taking phone calls and even helped a customer in the middle of our appointment. I'm pretty new at picking out specific flowers and the person was with NO help.

The worst part (is this common with florists?) was that they wouldn't give us a breakdown of the cost for each thing unless we put down an deposit. In the car we tried to remember each segment (bouquets..tables etc) and the total estimate. I just assumed like with every other vendor, we'd get a written estimate so I didn't write it down as they told us.

Please tell me it gets easier!

I went to one florist that would not give me a written breakdown - not even in a piece of scrap paper!!! I decided I did not feel comfortable about that and did not sign with them.

Every other florist that I saw gave me a carbon copy of the estimate with a breakdown of each item and what we discussed. That's the way it should be. Even you don't get to keep a copy of the breakdown it should at least be written down on some official paper so that they can look it up if you return.

things should get easier!!! most of the florists we saw gave us a quote in writing with a breakdown. FH and I are the same way when it comes to someone giving us attention....I would have been totally peeved too

I visited more than a dozen florists. Only one didn't give me a complete breakdown. That one gave me a total price for all the bo-k's and bouts, and then an individual price for the CPs.

Keep looking - there are plenty of great florists out there.

That's stinks. I haven't looked at a florist yet (i'm a slacker), but I would think that as with all other vendors, it's just good faith to give you a written estimate so you can see what you're paying for....how else do they think you'll decide??? When we looked at reception sites (a little different, i know) even the places that could tell how un-interested i was in their place took the time to write it all down.

That happened to me with Pedestals' in Howard Beach. The woman I met with (Phyllis) refused to give me a breakdown of anything, and refused to give me a photo copy of the "quote" sheet...Needless to say, I didn't book with them.

Every other florist I went to, gave me a quote sheet.

I booked with my 1st florist. He was amazing- didn't try to sell us things we didn't need- threw stuff in and really paid attention to what we wanted. He didn't rush us, he told his secretary to take all his calls...

I went with Flowers by Brian in mineola.. I would check him out- you will not be disappointed!

I'm so sorry about your experience, but you made the right decision by not going with them if you're not comfortable. my florist gave us a breakdown AND did a sample CP before we left a deposit
