Silly questions... how does the marriage license date work?

obviously people don't go and get their license the day of, so how does the date on the license work?? *scratch head*

You can get the marriage license w/in 60 days of your wedding. However, there's a 24 hour waiting period.

Example: We went today to get our license (48 days away) - w/in the 60 days - check!
However, we cannot be married until tomorrow b/c of the 24 hr. waiting period.

ETA: So I'd at least getting the license one week at the latest from the date.

are you asking how long it is valid for?

You have 60 days to get married once you get your licence.

Your wedding date is listed on the license.

ok, so they will put my actual wedding date on the license, as long as I get it within 60 days of it?

yes. You tell them your wedding day. they write it on your licence. That also mean you cannot get your licence more than 60 days before your wedding (since you have to be married within 60 days it is issued).
