Alternatives to Catholic Church??????

We're catholic but I was married when I was a teenager in church and now cant get married unless I get it anulled but there isnt enough time. I was planning on St. Killians with the childrens choir but that's not going to happen now. Any suggestions?

You can find reverends that will do Christian weddings.

I was also married previously.

I went through the same thing. My FH was previously married and I refused to make him go through an annullment. We found a really great Episcopal church... it is very similar to the Catholic church, but they seem to be more progressive and accepting. For us to get married, the priest had to write a letter on our behalf to the bishop, who very quickly approved us to have my FH get "remarried". We are really looking forward to it! Good luck!

I was going to suggest the Episcopal Church as well. I am an Episcopalian, and there are many former Catholics in my parish. The Episcopal Church is very accepting, but probably the closest of the Protestant religions to Catholicism.

I do know, that most priests will require you to become a member of the parish in order to be married there, but all baptized Christians are welcome to receive communion in the Episcopal Church and participate in services.

Here's a link to the website for the diocese of Long Island (includes Nassau, Suffolk, Brooklyn and Queens parishes):

Re: Alternatives to Catholic Church??????

We are in the process of an annulment & we're down to the wire & it looks like we might be opting for an Episcopal church as well. we went to a service last Sat. & it was soooo similar to the Catholic Church down to the readings/prayers/communion, everything.

FM me if you want the church....info...

Re: Alternatives to Catholic Church??????

I would love any info you might have I'm going through the same thing with Steven. I would love to get married in church but we can't unless we get it annulled and he was only married for 5 years I don't think it will be approved.
