i need quick help
my fh and i actually have off together this sunday, so i figured we could hopefully look at some halls. is this too soon to call up right now and ask for an appointment?? please help me! and what do i ask when i call up? to speak with a specific person or?

absolutely not -- some will tell you to probably come in without an appointment. Most have more than one banquet manager on duty. Have fun!!!!

I just called places up and asked to speak to someone for planning a ceremony/reception. They will connect you to the banquet manager. I started by giving the following info :
-Date & approx time of day
-Planning a reception or ceremony
-Number of people
-Sit down or Buffet Affair
Then I asked for an idea of their prices per person and what is included in each package. For instance if your doing a ceremony you want to know if the runner, candlebra, alter etc. is included. What type of decorations is included such as centerpieces etc.
I would say that 80% of the places I called gave me prices over the phone and the rest I had to visit in person. Hope this helps.

what places do you think i should take a look at? i think im either doing a brown and pink wedding or a safari/african/woodsy theme. so something not too bright.

I think that is your personal preference. You can make any theme/color scheme work in mostly all places. You need to go and get a feeling. I went to one place before selecting my location and I just got a bad vibe. They didn't want to help me recreate my dream wedding. It all depends on you. Its your day and you need to go see for yourself.

Once you find some in your price range, visit them all. I went to I think 20 or more places and I fell in love with the last two.
