They won't actually be throwing anything! We made bell/ribbon wands for our guests to wave and ring as we walk back down the aisle.

One cousin did red and white balloons (her wedding colors & mine - but I didn't want to copy everything from her wedding!)
Another cousin gave everyone noise makers for people to use as they walked out.

We are giving everyone a balloon as they walk into the ceremony (which is going to be outside, anyway) and attached to it will be a weight and a postcard. On the postcard we are writing a "please return this saying where you found it " message and instructing the guests to release the balloon after the ceremony is completed.
