I hate my FMIL

I am totally excited to get married EXCEPT that I hate my FMIL.

I love my future father-in-law and brother-in-law though.

Who else hates their FMIL?!??!?

FH says FMIL likes me now but I still hate her. I am not the type of person who hangs out with or even tolerates people I don't like. Sigh.

Yeah, I know what you mean. If I don't like someone I'll just avoid dealing with them, rather than having to pretend to like them. And it's unfair of your FH to say "Well, she likes you now, can't you like her back?" because you gave her that chance already. I *completely* understand how you feel.

Yikes!! I am also having issues with FMIL AND FFIL. Trying to make the best of everything since they will be my family for the rest of my life! have a drink

I hate my FMIL also. Thank God she's in Mississippi and I'm in New York. I don't think I could tolerate her if she were any closer

My FMIL is scary. She screams sometimes. She's nice sometimes and she acts like she's five years old. She goes to Disneyworld AT LEAST once a year. This woman is well into her sixties.

I CAN"T STAND my MIL!!!!!!!!!!! Since I married her son I am no good. I don't do this right or I don't do that right. While we were dating his mom used to talk about her son-in-law like he was this horrible person ,which he's not, and now I'm on her list too. She says things about me to my husband and he flips out!!!!!!! But she can't seem to mind her own business.
I could go on and on and on.

Hey remember that tv show dinosaurs with the baby dinosaur? There was one espied where the father dinosaur was looking forward to pushing his MIL off a cliff. Something their sociaty does when someone reaches a certain again. LOL awww... TV why can't it ever come true. LOL

I am sorry and "happy" to say I won't have a FMIL. FH's mom passed away when he was a young teenager. So, I won't have to deal with it.

Honestly, MIL of 1st marriage, was a nightmare. Never mean but always coming to visit or called everyday. I had married 3 people on 1st marriage.

While I dont HATE my FMIL, I have some isses with her. One evening she ended up going off on FH and I and I still havent gotten over it. She said some pretty nasty and damanging things. But to her, cooking a pasta dinner makes it all better. At this point, I just smile and knod. She talks to me like she has no problems with me, but I just keep to myself and be polite. After all, she IS going to be my FMIL forever. I have a good relationship with FFIL, but sometimes his comments throw me off the deep end.

I don't hate my FMIL but she can definitely get annoying. She's very demanding and expects alot and she's not shy about saying it. But she doesn't speak english very well so I have to keep reminding myself that she's not saying things to be rude, she just doesn't know any better. I grin and bear it because I have to. She's going to be around for a LONG time so you might as well make an effort. And especially if/when you have kids, she's gonna be around alot more.

You are definitely not alone. I have hated my FMIL since the first time I met her, which was 7 years ago. I used to go over for dinner once a week to appease my FH. But since we became engaged she has been a nasty b---h. I haven't been to her house since November, and I haven't seen or spoke to her since Christmas Eve. I told my FH that this was my decision, and there was no way I was going to change my mind. I'm marrying him, NOT his whole family. He doesn't like that this is the way things have turned out, but he has finally stopped bringing it up and started accepting it.

I already have too much stress in my life, I didn't need her making it worse. And to tell you the truth this is the best I've felt in 7 years!!!

lol we all know how you feel!!! I used to love my fmil but about two years ago she was soooo wronged us and I don't stand for that. I tell my mother off and I don't feel like I should have to tip toe around her! Since then we haven't been the same. I don't hate her but I proceed with caution. Last year we slowly started to get closer especially w/ the wedding but her sons! ugh another headach!!!! I really haven't seen them since we had a major arguement (like no holds bared) in the begining of December. I refuse to deal with any of them anymore!!!!

Just like you all said!!!!! I'm marrying him not his entire family and I will not deal with it!

Aren't we all just happy brides! lol

Sorry to hear your stories ladies. I am fortunate to have a FMIL who is wonderful to me. Her husband is also very nice to me too. I hope our relationship now continues to stay this way after we are married. I am sending out hugs to all of you in hope things will get better soon for each of you.

i think my FMIL is an airhead.

i got along with her before FH and i got engaged. since then, she has been quite wierd. she tells me how to take care of her son (e.g. make sure his shirts get ironed) and it gets really annoying.

While we are all bashing our FMIL, we should all just remember this...
What goes around, comes around. We should only hope that when our children get married, our future sons and daughters-in-laws will not feel the same way about us.

I have the reverse problem. I actually like his mom, but she's not very fond of me. Actually at one point she called me a whore(not to my face), which is really strange since my FH is the first guy i've ever been with. He still lives with her(he's starting to look for a place for us soon) and she refuses to let me stay over there. So because of her I only get to see my FH once a month when he comes down to visit me. But slowly things with her are getting better. She apparently didn't approve of FSIL's husband at first either, so I'm just gonna give her time.

And if she doesn't change she's never seeing her grandchildren....
