Anyone been there???
So I decided to surprise my FH for his birthday to a trip to DR... hehhehe I really just wanted to go away and it is a good excuse to go during the week of his birthday which is soon!!!
Now I was going to just play it off like we were going to go to work but go to the airport instead but I couldn't hold it in... so I told him.
I am super excited... we plan on leaving the day after the GTG... I just wanted to know if anyone has gone and where have the stayed and whats fun to do there!?!?

FH and I are going in April.... we are staying at the Occidental in Punta Cana ...I have never been there before, but we have heard the weather is always great!!

I stayed at secrets excellence in punta cana. It was nice. Not much to do outside the resort but we met tons of people and the weather was nice. Where are you staying?

I WENT TO PUNTA CANA LST MARCH. I STAYED AT IBEROSTAR BAVARO. IT IS AN ALL INCLUSIVE RESORT. I TOTALLY RECOMMEND THE RESORT.

I went there 2 years ago with my girlfriends and have to say it was one of the best trips EVER. We had a few bumps here and there (Landed in the wrong airport TWICE, yes twice and had to take a peddle jumper.)

I went to Juan Dolio - near Santo Domingo.
Wasn't a fan of that area but heard Punta Cana and Puerto Plata are nice.

I went there - theres 2 parts that are nice - Puerto Plata and Punta Cana
I went to Punta Cana - but FSIL went to both places
I stayed at the Grand paradise Bavaro - everyone is soooo nice there - but - it is SCARY to walk on the streets - IMO. I never left the resort - but once in the resort theres sooo much to do, and so many ppl to meet. I met ppl from Canada, and Switzerland ... alot of europeans go there for vacation
ooo and its very beautiful and oo soo relaxing!!

I stayed at Secrets Excellence in Riviera Maya Mexico and absolutley loved it!!!! I haven't found a resort just like that one yet.

I was going to go to La Romana which is closer to Santo Domingo...
Should I be going to punta cana???

My parents are from there, if you want to be near a beach and just relax you want to go to Puerto plata, or punta cana. However, Santo Domingo is the capital and the most industrialized part of the country.

Its nice, I mean don't get me wrong all Dominican beaches are great but there are some resort towns that have been that way for a very long time and some that are more new to the tourist market. I'm sure you will have a great time at Sosua.
