So frustrated...

Sorry I didn't realize having different opinions was such a crime around here. My post is gone.

Re: So frustrated...

Aww, sweety im sure youwill end up finding a place that youwill love. somethings just need to be searched, and i know sometimes it gets frustrating... As far as the budget goes I can imagine that it makes it a but more difficult in your search. Just keep your head up and try not to get frustated ( i bet your saying, its easier said than done) and slowly things will fall into place. Good luck.

I'm getting so frustrated with trying to find a RH. I've already been to 10 places and I can't find a place that I like within my budget.

My biggest problem is that I don't really like "traditional" catering halls. Marble and chandeliers make me want to vomit. I guess I really want a wedding that looks like it fell out of a j crew catalogue or something- a wedding that's less formal than most of these places.

I really really loved the Crescent Beach Club, but I'm not willing to pay 145pp. IMO its just such a rip off. People hear wedding and think $$$. There are people in other countries who don't make $145 a month and I want to spend 25,000 on 5 hours of my life?

I don't know. To me its just so frustrating and annoying to spend every weekend looking at halls only to be disappointed.

Sorry about the rant, I just needed to vent.

Marble and chandeliers make you want to vomit..hmmm.....

Wow.....

If you are looking for a site that looks like it fell out of a J.Crew catalog...yeah...go to the hamptons...there is the west hampton country club, there is Atlantica.....but if you want a J. Crew wedding, ........um...well...there might be a J. Crew Price tag. When we looked at Atlantica...smallest package we saw which did not have many extras...I believe was between 145-175(for the small package.)

Re: So frustrated...

Try going to Borders and picking up "Locations" magazine. Or a specialty magazine called "Receptions". They give a lot of places and insight. You also might want to try Lands End in Sayville. They are right on the beach and have amazing food, and prices are more reasonable. Hang in there, when you find it, you'll know!

Re: So frustrated...

Take a look at the West Sayville Country Club. They were inexpensive compared to the other places that we looked at, plus there was no marble.

Re: So frustrated...

Don't give up!!!!

I was exactly the same way... I didn't want the typical wedding hall... but you will know it when you see it!!! BELIEVE ME!

My FH and I went to over 15 places... and we ended up with the same place that I fell in love with online.

You will know it as soon as you see it... it just takes time... Kinda like meeting soulmate... you never know when you are going meet.

Good Luck!

Re: So frustrated...

I would ask the CBC about ways to lower the price per person. I switched my wedding to an off season date and I got a cheaper price...

Re: So frustrated...

We were not big with the marble and chandeliers stuff too.
Did you go to The Riviera it is a beautiful place. It had an old fashion look to it and they have one wedding at a time there.
Also Westbury Manor, I also has the country feel to it and it is bigger then The Riviera. We fell in love with both of them. Check it out if you didn't already.

Good luck!

Re: So frustrated...

I am so with you, I went through the same thing. I searched and searched and searched, and I ended up paying more than I had planned on because the moment I saw Flowerfields I just knew it was right - even my dad said "This is you guys." I wasn't entirely comfortable with the price, but I feel like it's worth it to have a place that really fits.

But I had to go through a lot of crystal chandeliers to find it... keep looking and don't settle until you find a place you love! I wish I could give you a good suggestion, but I wasn't looking at beachy places (beach + October = wind and cold).

The only beachy place I checked out was Lands End, which is beautiful and worth checking out, but the prices they quoted me were over $100pp (although I was looking for a Saturday night). give them a call and see though!

Re: So frustrated...

Honestly, in my personal opinion think its a little rude for you to say marble and chandeliers make you want to vomit, some ladies on here have halls with marble and chandeliers. How about they arent my style

Im with you on the marble, chandeliers stuff.. im not a fan at all-too prim and proper for me I wanted a more casual 'fun" type atmosphere not a oh *** i might break something..
I booked Timber Point.. its a casual, homey, "nice" for lack of another word feel.. (and VERY resonable! ) FM me if you want more info, ill give you any info you want.. they are lessings so they have a nice organization behind them.

Re: So frustrated...

I'm getting married at Glen Island Harbor Club in New Rochelle.....i have no idea what they charge for a reception in June....BUT its sooo nice there. I too hate chandeliers .....this place has NO chandeliers.........just windows over looking the water! Sooo pretty. It does have a marble dance floor....but everything else is very simple.... I loved the cresent beach club too...I just hated the man i met with. SOOOO annoying! I wanted to shoot myself during our appointment.....plus i'm getting married in the winter.....so planning a beach wedding was pretty stupid!
Don't give up! You will definately find someting you'll love!
Good Luck!

Re: So frustrated...

If you are looking for something quaint and different, try the Sans Souci. It is over $100 pp for an evening wedding, but if you do a Saturday afternoon wedding you will save a bundle. There is a magazine, Wedding Facilities and Services, they sell it at barnes and noble and borders, check it out. There are descriptions, pictures and price ranges listed. Also feel free to call ahead, I called about 12 places and only went to see 4 in person after I found out the price ranges and fell in love with the Watermill.

Re: So frustrated...

Why don't you try Sans Souci, Westbury Manor, Lands End, Timberpoint CC.

The Crescent Beach Club is beautiful but your getting married in June and the prices are a bit higher. Maybe you should try March or April and see what the price difference is.

Re: So frustrated...

I hear what you're saying about not being a fan of the marble/chandeliers, because its just not my style either.

BUT

There are many girls here that LOVE that! Poor word choice, but I catch your drift.

That's why I chose Fox Hollow.
The room I chose feels more like an estate than a catering hall...

keep looking. I saw 14 halls before choosing mine.

Re: So frustrated...

Sorry to crash your board, but I got married in a winery, and it was definitely more casual and laid-back than the catering halls. It's on the expensive side, but it might be worth looking into if you're interested. I got married at Raphael in the North Fork of Long Island. There are other wineries that do weddings, like Martha Clara, Pellegrini, Castello di Borghese. You can check out http://www.liwines.com for more information. Feel free to send me a forum mail me if you have any questions. Good luck!!

The price will go down about $40 per person if you do it in the off season which is the third week of October until the end of April based on 125 guests

Re: So frustrated...

well IMO, there are plenty of non "marble and chandelier" RH's that will fit your budget. You just have to keep looking, however, I will say that your "vomit" comment took me back. Yes it is totally your opinion, but alot of girls including myself actually do like that stuff and are having their halls at places that are filled with it, such as my own.
