Okay, stupid question ... but do we count?

On the final list, does the bride and groom count? Or are we considered free? I'm finalizing my guest list and thinking about how many people we are paying for and then I wondered if we pay for ourseleves too?

Okay, stupid question ... but do we count?

I just figured that the bride and groom are to be included in the count. Am I wrong?

Yeah wouldn't you think.....

after spending all that $$$$$$ they could throw in TWO dinners!!!!!! Its not like you even get to drink that much or EAT for that matter!! :-) That would've been a nice surprise...hint, hint to any caterers that are snooping.

Ask caterer for a "doggie bag"

I too, agree that the B&G meals should be comp-ed at the reception - it's your day after all! But, just so you're not paying for a meal you won't eat - have your caterer wrap the bride and groom's dinners and some wedding cake "to go." You'd be surprised how hungry you are once the party is over, and you arrive at your hotel (after room service has stopped for the evening!) Just a suggestion...

My hall did not charge for us. I think each place has a different policy.

"doggie bags"

Also regarding vendors, they may allow your vendors to eat for free if you go with thier reccomended list(if not, they may discount their price). I plan on dropping off a small picnic basket at my reception location prior to the affair. I'm going to ask that they please put all of the goodies that we missed in it so we can enjoy the food together later that evening. Continued success to all...

Our hall doesn't allow any food or beverages to leave:(

I asked and they said that for insurance reasons (and food quality, temperatures) nothing can leave the premises.

That is something I have never heard of before. Call you local Board of Health and ask. There is no reason why people cannot take cake etc...home after the reception. Just sounds odd to me. But I know for a fact, that Claud2001 got her and her husband's meal wrapped to go so that they could eat when they got back to their hotel. Also, I plan on getting cake boxes so people can bring cake home and not have it wasted.

I got married at Villa LOmbardi's, and you ARE allowed to take food home with you. They will give you g=doggy bags. Maybe you misunderstood. They will NOT let you bring food to the hall because of insurance reasons. We wanted to bring an xtra cake that was sugar free, because we had a lot of diabetics in the family, and they wouldnt allow it.

DEFINITELY ask your hall to wrap up whatever food is left over!!! They gave us all the food (we had one no-show and they came around asking people for 2nds and 3rds, so we got all that too) and whatever was left over from the viennese. Like michele31 said, I've never heard of any hall denying that! Hey, not for nothing but you're paying for it, so you should definitely get to take it home!! It's sad to say, but you really don't get to enjoy anything at your own wedding because there's so much going on and you're too excited to eat. My husband can't wait to go to a wedding in April because he can enjoy all the food he missed at his own!!! (sad, huh? LOL :-) !!)

We also had Gabe. In fact, the guests who didnt finish eating, they wrapped the leftovers in Swans made out of aluminum foil. It was cute. :)

Will the hall let you order a sugar free cake for your diabetic guests? If not, you should really complain. That is not fair. My grandmother was diabetic and that would have been very important to me too. If they say no, maybe you could "sneak" in sugar-free choclates for them. Make them a special favor for those guests who cannot eat the cake. The hall always lets you bring in favors. Or order a few mini-cakes that are sugar free, put them in a pretty box with a bow with their names on them. Then they can eat their "favor" while everyone else eats your regular cake.

I already got married. We asked if they would do it for us, and they said that they would get back to us. But after that we just figured it would go to waste. Since there was so much food at the reception. Our hall would NOT permit us to bring in food.So we couldt have it made and brought to the reception. It's over with, so I/m not worried about it now.
