Save the Date Cards

Hi All-
Do my save the date cards need to be as fancy as my wedding invites?
Also, do they need to match?

I'm just trying to figure all this out- because I'll probably use engraving or letter press printing on my actual invitations. I don't know if I should do the same for my 'save the dates'.

Thanks guys!

Re: Save the Date Cards

Not at all. They don't HAVE TO match.

I wouldn't spend too much $ on save the date cards, save the $ for the invites instead

Re: Save the Date Cards

Nope, my STD cards definitely won't be like my invitations.

The ones we've received in the past haven't matched the invites either.

Re: Save the Date Cards

What about the printing?

Are you all using fancy printing, or doing it yourself on a computer?

Re: Save the Date Cards

I did mine on the computer. Think of them kind of as informal invites. It's just to save the date, leave the fancy stuff for the actual invitations.

I think Save the Dates can be whatever you want. I made magnets from a picture I took at Giorgio's and put our names and the date, etc.

Re: Save the Date Cards

I did the cards for my STDs on the computer in black ink. My invites will have raised printing in color.

Re: Save the Date Cards

The STDs are informal correspondence, so they're a good oppportunity to have fun and show your personality in a way not always possible in a really formal wedding invite!

No, they do not have to match. My STD's was ivory card with dusty rose satin ribbon tied on it. Right away my guests were aware of my color scheme. My invitations were ivory with dusty rose satin bow. I wanted to do it this but it is not a must that it has to match.

Re: Save the Date Cards

its up to you but they don't have to match. personally, i don't see the purpose of spending a fortune on save the dates. but thats IMO.
