Photography pricing questions!!!

I posted this on the 07 board but would appreciate the '06ers help as well... since most of you probably have done shopping for photographers...

I have had some "discussions" with FH about pricing and cost of photography, so I REALLY could use your imput and responses here!

For those of you who have shopped around, met with photographers, etc... what is your ball park figure that you have been quoted for one photographer plus basic album and some additional photos?

You dont have to include vendors' names, so I hope that more people will answer!!!! (and if there has been a range, include that or include more than one quote of that's the case)

I have been researching this too.
We have a range of 4,200 to 5,500.
most of the quotes were for 4,300ish.

we went to 3 and booked the last one we met with....the average price, for us, was about $4500, b/w the first and last, the 2nd was about 6k, wayyyy more then we wanted to spend.

i say show around but don't see more then 5 or 6, gets too confusing.

i found a photographer in westchester who gave us a great price ($2200), and thats for a 40 page album, 100 thank yous, proofs, negs (if we decide to do film and not digital) and 4 bigger pictures (i think 3 11X14 and another big size) "however" i had some problems with the photgrapher we picked (she cancelled) so we have to use someone else now. If you shop around you will get an idea of what style you like and who gives you the most for your $$$. We looked at people who were b/t 4500-5000 and they offered less in their packages then who we went with. Hope this helps :)

On the cheap end 3,000 (w/o video).....but i'm going to end up spending about 4,500 on just the photographer.....extra 2,000 for video i guess

We found $1600 for proofs only, we were quoted around $4000 for one, and then we booked at $3800, including video.

I would say between $2850 and $4000

Some can go as high as $6000 though.

We are paying around 5 but my photographer has packages ranging from 3800- 6K

we only looked at one photographer, so I dont know if I am any help and we arent paying much over $2000.00. IMO, we got a great package also. And our video is only costing us 1300, I believe. I dont have my contract infront of me

$800-$900 up to 3 hours coverage.

I got prices from 2,000 to 7,500, I ended up with a great photographer in Rocky Point for 3,300 and video 1500

I went to 5 photgraphers and i got estimates from 3k - 8k for album and video.

We went to 7 photographers. Got a low of $2K w/o any albums at all, and a high of $6,500 w/ albums, and add'l prints.

i saw everywhere from 4500 - 10,000+. it all depends on what you like. what you could get a great package for about 5-6k.

I was quoted:

2k
for 2 photographer 10 hrs, images on DVD, 500 proofs, 1 11x14 and 125 thank you cards. Albums are extra ($450 to $850)

4.5k
for 1 photographer 10 hrs, all negatives and proofs. Albums are extra (start @ 1k)

Basic packages at our photographer for an album, a few blow ups and thank you photocards was around 2K. We went for a package that included journalistic as well as traditional posed shots and are paying over 3k.
