some people just don't get it...
so my brother helped me pick out the DJ since FH was on call in Philly... so as we're talking he says to me "can I invite a bunch of my friends to this thing?" THIS THING?! I said do you mean my wedding? he laughed and said yeah. Okay, let's preface this by saying that my brohter is 22, not 12 where I may have felt inclined to invite a friend of his so he isn't alone... Plus, he's friends wiht the entire BP and knows alot of my friends and FH's friends since we all go out together... Does he not get that this isn't just a party??? I wound up caving and said he could invite one friend, a kid that I do like, but explained that his friend may not want to come since it can be expensive to go to a wedding.. Then he made a face and said oh he'd have to give you a gift? WHAT?! not that I expect gifts from people, but that is the norm... people that go to weddings give gifts... so not only does he want to invite his friends but he doesnt think they should have to give a gift too?!
Maybe I'm making too much out of it, but I just thought whole situation was weird and rude...

Don't know how many weddings your brother has been to, but maybe he is just clueless when it comes to this stuff?

Maybe tell him how much you are paying for everything.. he is 22.. then again im only 25.. didnt really realize how much stuff cost till i started planning (and he's a boy.. they are usually REALLY clueless!!)..
I'm sorry ur aggrevated! Def. sit him down and tell him.. but it is funny how diff. guys think then us!!

i agree with you - if your brother takes his freinds - you have to pay for their plate - and he prob doesnt realize that. Not many guys realize how expensive a wedding costs, and how every little thing adds up.
Hes prob thinking of it more like a way to have fun and party ... bc thats what ppl usually tend to do at weddings - its a fun celebration!!

I have to agree with the others - he probably doens't understand how expensive a wedding can be, that it's not just something where you can call up your friend and go "hey, dude, wanna come to a party?" (yes, I said dude.)
I think that probably if you tell him "just so you know, we're paying $100 for every person who comes" (or whatever your amount is) he might get it a bit better.

im 22 and i think giving 150 is cheap at a wedding :-/ although most of the time im poor so thats what i give. im also a waitress so i live off of tips. its made me realize whats good and bad.
