Whats's your opinion on the
rising dance floors as the entrance into the reception. Tacky or not. Here take a look and follow this link and let me know what you guys think. Should I do it or not?

I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings but I don't like the rising floor but that's just my style and personal opinion on it. You should really do what you and FH like.

We're coming up in an elevator so i think that's what you're talking about. and i'm italian and so is FH and we love this kind of stuff lol but honestly u don't have to be italian to like it - it really just depends on what u and FH like and remember that it's your day so just make yourselves happy and don't worry about everyone else

Re: Whats's your opinion on the
Um...well....I'm a little biased. Look, if you like it, I say do it. I have actually been to Villa Barone...and that rising floor is gorgeous.
So what if people think its tacky, they are there to celebrate in your happiness.
I, myself....WILL MOST ABSOLUTELY WITHOUT A DOUBT COME UP FROM THE FLOOR!!!
I mean, what an entrance!! No where else can you do that...And whats the alternative..the usual walking in with DH?
Its up to you...if you like it..go for it...you'll never be able to do it again. If you think its tacky...don't. People don't really care either way so long as your happy and there is a dang open bar, seriously.
And...well..as a few people have mentioned....My wedding is going to be a huge Italian Puerto Rican schabang...and I will have a dress with a buttload of tulle, a tiara, a venetian hour, an army of bridesmaids....call rising up from a floor tacky , if you will, I call it the perfect accent to my wedding.
Some call it gaudy, I call it the perfect entrance

Re: Whats's your opinion on the
No, i know that and I totally agree with you, just somebody made the commenet and I understand what she was getting at as well. My FI's family loves to put on a show and for the most part thats basically what it is. I like the elevator I really do, but jus not sure if i wanted to step out of it. LOL Say if it gets stuck

Re: Whats's your opinion on the
No prob
No prob..I know what you're going through. When I first joined there was a similar question asked...and a lot of people responded and said it was tacky,, it actually might even be on the Russos thread, I don't remember.
But anyhoo, I was worried and then I thought..Holy Crapola I have no taste and people are gonna think I'm tacky!!
But they don't. Every bride do whats fitting for them, and if you are as European and showy as you say you are, because I am, it fits you, and people would expect.
People do what suits their style, and you do whats most comfortable and normal to you, and if you do this, You will exuberate happiness even more.
I've been to wedding that are all candlelight, NY penthouse style, with a jazz band, very modern flowers and modern dishes. They are beautiful, I thoroughly enjoy them, and think they are so swank and amazing. But its not me...but I can appreciate the style.
And thats how people will be with you.....

Re: Whats's your opinion on the
It really is about your own sense of style. I don't like to be the center of attention and would probably freeze like a deer in headlights. I am having trouble dealing with a typical "walk through the door" wedding announcement wich makes me, my families black sheep. 99% of my family weddings are at Russo's and they all come up from the floor or burst through the walls. Again it's not for me but all of my relatives and friends that chose the extravagent entrance really seemed to LOVE it and enjoyed themselves and that is what matters most. Becuase they were so excited everyone else was, and I'll tell you no one forgets it! Have fun with it

Re: Whats's your opinion on the
Well..if you do a search for the catering halls..you can usually find "the officall blah blah blah" thread. I don't know if villa barone has one. But do a search, and surely you can find some threads where it has been mentioned or talked about...

Re: Whats's your opinion on the
I say if you want it then go for it. My friend got married at the Villa Barone Manor and this was how she made she made her grand entrance which was cute. For me I am so not into things like this. It is just not my taste.
