If you're trying to keep the cost down, why not look at winter or Fri night/Sun afternoon. Depends on your guests but Tues. will probably be inconvenient for many.

Re: Hey guys....I really need some help

Congratualtions and Welcome!

I don't think that's a really good date. I don't think a Tuesday is ever a good idea, even after a 3 day weekend. People will have workt eh next day, and that day as well. I think a lot of the time people have MORE troubkle getting off from work when it's connected to a 3 day weekend or a holiday, because a lot of people will want off that day and/or they will have work to catch up on from the day off.

I think the Sunday or Monday afternoon will be your best bet cost wise and convenience-wise for guests

Re: Hey guys....I really need some help

hey quiana banana!!

i think the pro to having it on that day is that it will probably be available in any hall you want. (tuesday is not that popular of a day) - and i also think the con is the same reason.

why does your parents not like the day? do you and your FH like it? or is it just convenient?

Re: Hey guys....I really need some help

Don;'t forget that september, particularly labor day weekend, is a really popular time to get married. I'm sure you could get a really great deal for a sunday afternoon in january or february!

I agree, a thursday is better than a tuesday, because it's easier to get friday off if you have to, but still not a thursday connected ta 3 day weekend. A lot of people will be going away and extending the 3 days weekend to 4m and it might be hard to get a day off, especially since it's such short notice, plus don't forget that flights and hotels are going to be outrageous.

Re: Hey guys....I really need some help

Hey Tricia,

Well my parents (mom) thinks that we are rushing it a bit..because we only have 7 months to plan everything....it's like she wants it on a week-end but the week-days are more affordable.....you know?....so right now my FH and I might push our date to sometime in May 07'

Do you think that the prices will be affordable in May...or not?

Re: Hey guys....I really need some help

I think May is going to be really expensive since it is in high wedding season, April might be more reasonable!

I think planning in 7mos is going to be hard for a holiday weekend. Nothing is probably booked up yet for a tuesday, but I think it would be really inconvenient for guests. I think if someone I knew was having a wedding ona tuesday, in all honesty, I'd say "what the heck?!?!?" and I'd probably not go.

Re: Hey guys....I really need some help

September is an expensive weddign month, hence why I am doing my wedding 8/26. I would move it to Nov. that will decrease prices. For labor Day Weekend: You can try Monday during the day.. or sunday - during the day. Find out pricess from hall for different dates so you cna get an idea.

Welcome and congrats on your engagement.

What do you think about April? Is this month expensive or what? I thought the off season months were Sept-Feb.....but then again I could be wrong...

So what do you think?

Having our wedding in April helped the cost for us, but as time goes on, it's becoming a really popular month, so the halls do jack up their prices to the "peak" ones.

I would honestly stick to Friday, Saturday, or Sunday - and Friday & Sunday being less than Saturday.

You can always go in November, December, January, February, or March to keep the costs down.

What exactly is your projected budget per person?

I think they say Nov-March are the "off season", December less so because of the holidays

Re: Hey guys....I really need some help

Well,

Yesterday...I went to Westbury Manor, Sand Castle and Swan Club.....they gave me really good prices for the Tuesday after Labor Day. The range was from $55-$65...those prices were fine....At westbury manor when I inquired about Nov 11...which is a saturday the cost was $120.00 pp.... and that is for the same menu that they would have given on a tuesday.....

What to do?

We have Fox Hollow for $89 including tax/grat for a Sunday Night in April.

The reason the price doubled at WM was b/c it's a Saturday.

I would honestly steer clear of a Tuesday.

Easter weekend, particularly good friday is cheaper... obvious there are religious observances but if that doesn't hinder you, it may be an affordable option.

You may be better off with a winter Friday night...even late Feb or early March.
