Fortunoff Registry
I know that Fortunoff has a rep for screwing up registries- although I never really experienced this when we were engaged. I have been married for almost a year-- finally got around to unpacking our china, etc. We have some stuff at our parent's houses, so I cannot take a complete inventory-- but, I have been trying to figure out what we need to buy to complete our registry.
My registry is fully wrong-- I have no idea why numbers changed on certain things-- it makes no sense. I registered for this stuff and *I* am confused about what the hell I still need. I mean- this is despite the fact that they allowed more purchases on certain things-- like I have 16 ice goblets as opposed to 12- but ok, I will return them and get something I need-- but still, I shouldn't have to do this.
My question is-- for those that have experienced a registry screw up with Fortunoff-- have they given you anything- like % off purchases, etc.? I am lazy and it's obviously past 6 months- so, my 10% off has expired-- I am hoping for some concessions though. Just curious before I approach them and tear them a new one

Re: Fortunoff Registry
I think you should just go there and speak to them, everything I have heard about them is how accommodating they are maybe they will extend the 10% to you since you have a problem. I would also ask someone to go over the registry with you so you can figure out what is going on that is what the consultants are there for isn't it?

Re: Fortunoff Registry
I had a couple problems.
1. They wouldn't let me take a shopping cart from the store to my car to unload the stuff I needed to return (duplicates). Thus, of course, the Pyrex set fell in the street and smashed. I carried in the box and said "since YOU wouldn't let me use the shopping cart, this is now broken. I'm sure you realize we will have a MAJOR problem if you don't take it back." They took it back without saying a word.
2. Items get discontinued and just VANISH off the registry. So, when I tried to return/exchange, they would not do it because "it wasn't purchased off the registry." I ended up keeping that stuff anyway.
3. The drink mixer I received actually had an old, funky, used one in the box. It wasn't even the same brand as what was supposed to be in the box. We brought it back. The girls behind the counter starting speaking in Spanish to each other and saying things like "She is so gross, trying to bring back this nasty thing." They exchanged the item. I thanked them for their help- in Spanish. Then, I called customer service to complain. They sent me a $25 gift card as an apology.
4. I finally opened my Lenox Holiday china. Problem was, Lenox Holiday Tartan china was in the box. They did take it all back without a problem because they new the manufacturer messed up most of the boxes.
We've had other problems with purchases not on the registry. Unless we got a manager involved, we weren't getting anywhere. Now, I typically shop at Bed Bath and Beyond...
ets: inexplicably, some items that were scanned came off the registry, but others didn't. It was really weird. DH's aunts got us the same comforter set. One aunt also got the sheet set, but the other aunt got a Lenox figurine. On the registry, the figurine shows as having 2 purchased (when it was only 1) the sheets show as purchased, and the comforter shows as 1 being purchased (when it was really 2).
Also, it seemed like even though items were purchased, other people were still able to purchase them without anyone at the store pointing out that the item was already purchased...and, the purchases were not mad at the same time.

Re: Fortunoff Registry
I recently received a gift in the mail off my registry and it came with NO NAME on the card so I didn't know who sent it!
I had to call the store and ask them who bought it off the registry... and they only knew b/c my aunt bought it on a Credit Card...
I thought that was a little messed up... What if she paid cash... then I wouldn't know who it was from... I was really suprised... that has been the only problem so far.

Sue- when did you go in to return stuff-- based on MrsBoop's response on LIF-- she had mentioned I may have a problem since my wedding was 10 months ago.. Just curious.

Re: Fortunoff Registry
The return that involved the Pyrex was the day after my shower (which was 2 months before my wedding).
About a month after the wedding, I debated back and forth about returning one set of bedding since it was discontinued and I wouldn't be able to get the matching drapes, or any more of the matching pillows.
That bedding set completely vanished from my registry- not that it wasn't showing as purchased, but that it wasn't listed on there at all. The girl was saying that it didn't show as being purchased on the registry and wasn't understanding me when I was trying to explain that it was on my registry and it was purchased from the registry, but that the whole set just vanished off of the registry.
ets: I just read Boop's reply. I forgot all about this: Back in July 2005, I changed the date on my registry because I was trying to exchange a brand new and unused, complete with stickers and barcode, toothbrush holder that went with my bathroom set for the tumbler instead. They would not accept it because I was beyond the 3 month return period. This really pizzed me off because the item was (and STILL IS) a current item. Had I come in there and just said "I just got this as a gift" they would never have searched my registry and seen the purchase date.
So, I changed the date online and went back the next day and exchanged it for the tumbler.
