NWR: Really personal question...

Girls...my period is 10 days late. I took a pregnancy test and it is negative (thank god)...I have been exercising a lot and have lost some weight....could this be delaying my period? What do I do? I am on the pill and the pill has kept me regular for years....I have never been late.

Help!

Exercise and dieting can be a factor as to why your period is late. Rigorous exercise routine can definitely play a part. Are you stressed? Stress can also affect your cycle.

excercise, weight loss & stress can all delay your period even when on the pill! Try to relax!!!

Re: NWR: Really personal question...

These can all delay your period! My best suggestion is to relax. If it still doesn't come by next week, then see your gyn.

I'd say it's 99% due to your weight loss. I saw my GYN about the same problem last year. I lost weight pretty quickly and didn't get my period for 2 months.

Re: NWR: Really personal question...

I agree the diet and weight lose play a role- but you are on the pill- which means you don't really get your period anyway

I would call your Doctor- to be safe

Huh? I don't understand that. I'm on the pill and I get my period every month just as I did before I was on the pill, except now I'm more regular.

I agree with Beth, mine has been delayed with weight loss and stress, but you are on the pill, which should keep you regular. I am sure you have nothing to worry about...(i have skipped cycles in the past) However, I would def. put a call in to them....just for peace of mind.

Re: NWR: Really personal question...

it really could be the weightloss or stress

have you made drastic changes to your diet?

i wonder if 10 days is enough for a pg test -
why not just call the Doc - it doesnt hurt to call

when you are on the pill you don't ovulate- it's not really your period- like if you weren't on the pill- I don't know all the medicial terms- but it's not the same thing

Re: NWR: Really personal question...

I would suggest calling your doctor. Not to freak you out, but with all of my moms pregnancies the at home tests didn't work! Just to be safe get it checked out

Yes, this is true. While you experience a "period" it's not a true period at all. It's a "fake" period. SO retarded but true!

Have you been sick and taken antibiotics? This is one thing that makes the pill not work...and leaves the chance for accidents.

I hope it's just stress and nothing serious. Alhough if I was still on the pill and 10 days late I'd run to the doctor!

Re: NWR: Really personal question...

I skipped my period also, I think it was more due to stress. Weightloss can definitely be a factor. If you're really concerned call your doctor. Although I would wait another week or so and see what happens.

Re: NWR: Really personal question...

Weight loss and exercise has caused me to have late periods and even to miss entire periods (bonus!). It is one of the bodies reactions to change/stress - no biggie. The next month it came back. If you are stressed, call your doc.

Re: NWR: Really personal question...

You can take the pregnancy test a few days after you missed your period and you'll get accurate results...if you're on the pill then you have nothing to worry about...its probably your hormones reacting to weight loss and stress...however, if you dont get your period within the next few days I suggest heading to the doctor for a pregnancy test...good luck sweets! No wine for you until you find out!!!!!!!!!!
