Help with Postage!!

So we are sending invites out on Monday but I am so confused about the postage situation. I know the RSVP cards are definitely 39 cents, but how did you figure out how much postage you needed for the invitations. Our invitations are square, which I heard from reading some posts on here are a little more. Did you guys go to the post office with one invitation and ask the clerk there?? Also how do I get them hand cancelled??

Re: Help with Postage!!

Have one of the workers at the post office weigh it for you, so you know if it's 63 cents or 87.

As for hand cancelling, either they will do it for you and stamp it all, or they will hand you the stamp to do it yourself. I did it myself and it took me all of 5 minutes to do 58 envelopes.

Re: Help with Postage!!

I went to the post office with my very square invitation and asked about additional charges for "over sized" mail. I was told that the oversized mail charge only kicks in when the weight of the envelope puts it at the 39 cent postage rate. As soon as the weight puts it into the 63 cent postage rate, size doesn't matter, and you are not charged extra. If you have a lot of inserts, it might be more expensive than 63 cents, but there is NO extra charge for the size.

To find out how much postage you need, take one full invite, with all the inserts to the post office and have it weighed. They will tell you what it costs to mail.

take them to the post office & find out the postage...Then when they are all stamped, bring them back the post office & have them hand cancel them!
