Engaged and looking for hall ideas...

Hi everyone. I just got engaged on January 29th and have spent the last month just enjoying. Now I have to get to work on planning. I need some suggestions for halls with a waterview for April or June of next year. So far, I've looked at Lombardi's on the Sound and the Three Village Inn. I have appointments to see Carltun on the Sound, Crescent Beach Club and the Harbour Club in Huntington on Saturday. If anyone has any other suggestions that are less then $100 per person for a Saturday afternoon that would be great. I;m looking for the north shore mostly of Western Suffolk, Eastern Nassau. My church is in Centerport.

I had really wanted to get married at my parent's yacht club, but it only holds 120, and my FMIL has already come up with 83 people she HAS to invite, despite me and FH insisting we want a small wedding. But that's a whole different issue.

Thanks!

Check out Riviera in massapequa. It is one wedding at a time and is right on the bay.

Re: Engaged and looking for hall ideas...

The Swan Club is over looking Roslyn Harbor and is definately less than $100 for a Sat Afternoon. It's not as "Nautical" as some of the other places mentioned, but it has a bautiful garden setting and the harbor running into its grounds so it has a dual feeling of water & floral. We are paying less than $100 for a Sat night on a holiday weekend. They have a room there that can accomodate over 200 people.

Good luck and congrats on your engagement!!

Re: Engaged and looking for hall ideas...

It looks like you have most of the north shore covered....all great places.

Most of the brides have been giving you recommendations for halls on the south shore. So in continuing with the theme. Check out Venetian Yacht Club. I just booked my May 07 wedding their. I got a really good price b/c I booked in the midst of a major renovation. Their prices are going to go up when the renovations are complete late next month.

Are you opposed to looking at halls in Westchester that are on the Sound?

Good Luck!!!

Re: Engaged and looking for hall ideas...

If your church is in Centerport you should really look into having your reception at the Vanderbilt Museum in Centerport. Little known fact - they have a permanent tent there overlooking the water next to their formal gardens, and it's a really beautiful spot, especially in the spring and summer. They aren't full-service the way a hall would be, but they have caterers that they work with who will basically do whatever the hall would have done, and you just pay a site fee to the Vanderbilt. It would be really nice in June, we had my sister's Bat Mitzvah there in June a few years ago and it was fantastic. I'm not sure what the prices are now as they've probably gone up since I was looking, but it's worth checking into.
