Question: should I call out a vendor if I think I'm being quoted a high price?

I have heard a lot of people say their cakes from Audrey's are about 125 for a half sheet, but I got quoted $250 for a half sheet. Mine is 3-dimensional, but I can't imagine why it is twice the amount. I haven't ordered the cake yet. Should I say something to them, or just assume they have their reasons for charging so much?

ETA: in my titie, I didn't really mean "call out." I would never be rude to a vendor, especially if I think I will book them. But even if not, I would still be polite.

Didn't you post about this already? If I remember the cake looked pretty complex...and I think everyone agreed you were getting a good price.

Did you hear something else?

Personally, if I thought I was getting charged too much for something, I would just say something. The worst thing that can happen is you have to pay the price you're already paying. It never hurts to ask.

I did a really good search on LIW, and found that some brides with 3D cakes were posting prices that were a lot lower. I don't know if it's because of the detailing, but I've seen some pretty complex shapes and heard that the prices were significantly lower.

I guess I'm just second guessing whether I should do it, since I've heard that most brides paid a lot less than $250 for their cakes.

I wouldn't be rude- but I would ask them to explain the differences- either they made a mistake or have a reason why

I think that you should question the pricing as well as shop around. if you bring the same idea to another bakery and there is a great difference, ten you have nothing to worry about. i'm sure that they are charging by the complexity and work that they are putting into your cake.

if you are unhappy with the price, find another bakery...there are plenty to choose for. sometimes the prices includes quality and paying for a name

I'm OOT, so I've been talking with them via email. I think I will give them a call, though and see what they say. I would really love to surprise my FH with this cake for the RD. Everything for the wedding has been for me, and I think this would be nice for him.

I would not be rude with them, but just call and ask them about it. Most likely they are not over charging you, but at least they can explain their pricing and make you feel better about the price. It will ease your mind!
